RuPaul Has Tied Jeff Probst’s Emmy Record For Outstanding Reality Host
RuPaul is a legend that has been around for a while (that sounds shady, but it’s the truth – photographs from the 90s don’t lie!) And you don’t achieve legendary status without also breaking a bunch of records. Like most hours clocked through the soft-focus filter of a camera lens, or total number of miles walked down a runway in a beaded gown while holding your breath. Over the weekend, the Creative Arts Emmys were held in Los Angeles, and RuPaul has come one more award closer to breaking yet another record.
The Oscars Went On Without A Host And It Was Great
All the way up until this point I was expecting nothing but bad things from this year’s Oscars because there was no host lined up and the last time the Oscars went host-less it was an utter disaster. So, of course, I was prepared to drink and laugh all night at their epic failure because I’m a hater. But I was pleasantly surprised by how much better the show was without a host, and the ratings were up! However, since everything kicked off with the Holy Trinity of Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey and Amy Poelher I believe they somehow blessed the show with their monologue by doing just enough to entertain everyone and then getting the hell off of the stage before boredom took its seat in the front row.
The Emmys Was Bursting With Excessive Amounts Of Fabric Last Night
It’s a bit redundant to say so, because aren’t all award shows just an excuse for fashion houses to clean out their local Fabric Barn and send a famous person down the carpet in more material than a 1980s canopy bed set? But the Emmys did see a lot of by-the-yardage last night, like on Jessica Biel, who said yes to a white Ralph & Russo dress. If you think Jessica and Justin Timberlake look like they stopped by the Emmys on their way to appearing on the top of a wedding cake, you’re not the only one.
Amy Poehler Is Directing And Starring In A Movie Called “Wine Country” For Netflix
Amy Poehler’s directorial debut will be in a Netflix comedy which, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is about a group of “longtime friends who go to Napa for a weekend getaway to celebrate a 50th birthday“ and for some reason it’s not called White Girls (And Maya Rudolph) Trip. Seems like a missed opportunity to me but they’re going with Wine Country as the title. In addition to directing, Amy will also be producing and is cramming as many of her lady comedy cohorts into the cast as she can.
Tiffany Haddish And Maya Rudolph Stole The Show At Last Night’s Oscar’s
Like and oasis in a desert, Tiffany Haddish and Maya Rudolph saved last night’s Academy Awards ceremony from being a dry ass saltine cracker by injecting the show with some much needed moisture. The pair joined forces to present Best Documentary Short Subject and Live Action Short Film and were so much fun together, some folks are calling for them to host next year’s whole shebang.
Many Tried, But Nobody Beat Kate Hudson On The Red Carpet At The SAG Awards
There was a lot of messy fashion at the SAG Awards last night (prepare yourself accordingly after that jump below!). But obviously any effort that was put in was immediately cancelled out the second Kate Hudson returned to the scene of last year’s fashion crime and fully outdid herself in a fluffy Valentino vision of countrified love. I say love because, duh, the hearts a’plenty, but also because I love this dress. What’s not to love? Black velvet (check), pink beauty pageant chiffon (check), a high-lace neckline with corresponding bib of ruffles (checking furiously). The only thing missing is a pink parasol. Kate probably left it in the limo for fear of being mistaken for Miley Cyrus in a knock-off production of My Fair Lady called Decent Lookin’ Gal.
Here’s who else showed up and sizzled eyeballs with style.
