Open Post: Hosted By Aubrey Plaza’s Ad For “Wood Milk”

April 24, 2023 / Posted by:

Back in the ’90s, those “Got Milk?” ads had everybody chugging the white stuff by the carton (or the bag, if you’re Canadian). But, in recent years, dairy milk sales have declined, due in part to the growing popularity of plant-based milks like soy, almond, and oat. Enter Aubrey Plaza. AdWeek reports that she’s starring in a commercial for something called “wood milk”. It’s the world’s “first and only milk made from wood”, and, if that sounds gross, don’t worry; it’s completely made up. The ad is actually a parody of plant-based milks from MilkPEP (the Milk Processor Education Program). Yep, Aubrey’s helping Big Dairy get back on their hooves. Continue reading

The Ben Affleck For Dunkin’ Super Bowl Commercial Featuring Jennifer Lopez Aired Last Night

February 13, 2023 / Posted by:

Last week, we got a teaser of Ben Affleck’s Super Bowl commercial for the purveyor of his beloved life spiral nectar, Dunkin. Last week, we also got a teaser of how things between him and his recent bride Jennifer Lopez might be going (again). But either art must imitate life or Ben and Jen decided to get in on the joke; because the Dunkin’ commercial aired last night and featured the “nagging wife crashes her lost, miserable husband’s party” plot.

Here’s A Few Commercials For The Commercials Of Super Bowl 57

February 6, 2023 / Posted by:

Hard to believe that The Big Game is less than a week away. Yes, in just a few short days, the Michelob Ultras will go head-to-head against the Hellmann’s Mayonnaises in a star-studded Super Bowl 57 spectacular that will be broadcast all across the world! Now, I’m not a betting woman myself, but if I was, my money would be on the Ultras to win because I hate mayonnaise and I refuse to buy any. But according to Sporting News, “the latest trend in advertising are companies putting together teaser trailers for their ads” which must be infuriating for the bookies responsible for setting the spread (currently the Mayonnaises are favored 2:1, which makes sense). But to be honest with you, I don’t even really care who’s playing. Call me crazy or un-American but I only watch the Super Bowl for the men in tights who run around on the field when the commercials go to break.

Procter & Gamble Blames Amy Schumer For The National Tampon Shortage

June 9, 2022 / Posted by:

Back in July 2020, Procter & Gamble hired Amy Schumer to appear in an “edutainment” (ad) campaign for Tampax, America’s most popular brand of tampons. Two years later, there’s a national tampon shortage. The streets run red with menstrual blood! P&G’s explanation? Amy Schumer’s commercials were so amazing that she’s the reason for the lack of supplies. Huh. So the next time you go to the drug store for an emergency tampon run and are greeted by empty shelves, blame Schumer!

The Super Bowl Commercials Targeted A New Generation Of Old Folks

February 14, 2022 / Posted by:

I only realized it was Super Bowl Sunday when I went to Home Depot and the Garden Center was the only section seeing any action. The moment I realized I shouted “MOVE BITCH, I’M MISSING MY COMMERCIALS!” as I pushed an old lady into some zinnias and hightailed it to the car. But I was too late and by the time I got home, I had to find out on Twitter that cryptocurrency, useless apps, and hard seltzer are the future.

George Clooney Explains Why He Turned Down $35 Million For A Day’s Work

December 3, 2021 / Posted by:

George Clooney did an interview with the Guardian to promote his new movie, The Tender Bar, starring Ben Affleck. George discussed fame, raising his 4-year-old twins during the pandemic, politics, his childhood, blah blah blah the usual bullshit. The real takeaway is George sharing that he turned down $35 million to appear in an airline commercial. For just one day’s work! So why’d he turn it down? He already sold his soul for those annoying Nespresso ads. Well, apparently the airline was associated with a country that is “questionable at times” and after a very serious discussion with his wife Amal Clooney, he decided it wasn’t worth it. Oh right, principles. I’m too broke to have those.
