What should’ve been the second coming of “the roaring 20s” has instead mostly been “the cacophonous burrito of hesitant coughing and crying 20s” as it seems like life continues to get more complicated and disappointing for many of us, and our best and brightest dropping like flies has been one of the common plights of this era. It’s been tough to keep track of who died when since 2020-2022 has seemed like one long-ass year of grief, but it was only this past August that we lost one of the greats, Olivia Newton-John, who had bravely battled breast cancer for decades. And last night, the American Music Awards took a three-minute break from enthusiastically lapping at Taylor Swift’s b-hole so Pink could sing one of Olivia’s most loved songs, “Hopelessly Devoted To You,” in her honor.

Before last night’s American Music Awards (or as many refer to it as, “That show’s still on?”) even began there was some Chris Brown-related drama. Chris was supposed to perform in a tribute to Michael Jackson but the whole thing was tossed into the dumpster at the last minute for reasons unknown. Maybe one of the reasons was that executives got a clue and realized Chris Brown singing Beat It on their stage might not be the best look. Even though Chris’ performance was canceled, it wasn’t a Chris Brown-free night at the AMAs. He won an award and the audience responded by booing Chris Brown for being Chris Brown. Chris wasn’t there to flip them off, but thankfully for him, Kelly Rowland was there to defend poor little Chris Brown.

On Saturday night, a psychopath opened fire inside the Club Q nightclub in Colorado Springs, CO, leaving five people dead and at least 25 injured. And while some (see: Machine Gun Kelly) used their AMAs acceptance speech to question whether the US really landed on the moon or not, Dove, who came out as queer last year, decided to use her speech to show support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Adele’s Las Vegas Residency Finally Opened Over The Weekend
It’s been almost a year since Adele made us weep tears of joy and sorrow into our holiday meals. Her last album, the critically acclaimed 30, reminded us that there’s one thing Adele does far better than any of her contemporaries: cry. Apparently, she can sing too, and earlier this year, Adele’s fans were ready to flock to her Las Vegas residency Weekends With Adele at Caesar’s Palace Colosseum, but unfortunately for them, it was canceled at the very last minute, causing her fans to weep loudly. Adele usually brings the weepies with her songs, but this time, her fans were crying over all the travel costs they lost from the last-minute cancelation. At first, COVID was to blame, and then there was a rumor that relationship woes with her boyfriend Rich Paul helped push her residency into the gutter. But the main reason given was that the production values were shit and not up to Adele’s standards. Well, her show finally opened, and she sang Set Fire To The Rain in front of “flaming rain,” and it wasn’t from a stagehand holding a candle while another sprayed a garden hose at the stage. So the production values have been upped!

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have allowed the public to play the are they/aren’t they married game for the last decade-plus since they shacked up in 2011. The couple has since lived a very private life with their two daughters and zero sweatpants. Eva especially has largely stayed out of the spotlight and remained mum on speculation about her and Ryan’s relationship until last week when she very conspicuously flashed her “de Gosling” tattoo on Instagram.
