Adele’s “30” Is Getting All The Good Reviews And Her Son Angelo Is One Step Closer To A Grammy As He Appears On The Album
Adele has really cracked the fucking formula. She’s been a #1 chart-topping wonder for a long time now, and her fourth album 30 came out last night, and everyone’s gobbling it up. And not only are the reviews like the polar opposite of what happened with Cats and everyone is loving this album, but it looks like her son Angelo is going to join Blue Ivy Carter in getting a Grammy. Because 9-year-old Angelo, who Adele shares with her ex-husband Simon Konecki, makes an appearance on her album. Not singing, just speaking–but let’s wait a few years. He’s blood-related to Adele so that boy might be a future magnificent yodeler.
Angelo appears on Adele’s song My Little Love which features voice memos of a conversation between mother and son. Page Six says that the voice note is of Adele explaining to Angelo why she and his father are getting divorced:
“Mommy’s been having a lot of big feelings recently,” Adele says. “I feel a bit confused.” When Angelo asks why, his mother responds, “I feel like I don’t really know what I’m doing.”
“Oh, at all?” her son asks in his little British accent, to which Adele sweetly mimics, “At all.”
Later on, [Adele] explains to Angelo, “I love your dad ’cause he gave you to me. You’re half me and you’re half Daddy.”
Here’s the song, which is over six minutes long:
And thanks to that song and all the other songs on 30, Adele is getting some of the best reviews of her career. Rolling Stone called it her “best album yet” saying: “Adele has never sounded more ferocious… more alive to her own feelings, more virtuosic at shaping them into songs in the key of her own damn life.” Vulture echoed it being her “all-time best” and basically suggested Adele has the vocal ability of Vesuvius, calling her a “volcano, stewing in secret for years until the moment she cuts loose and melts everything in her path.” And The Independent said Adele, “Patron saint of heartbreak licks her wounds in a divorce album that takes risks.” So far the album is sitting pretty with a Metacritic score of 90.
Adele actually missed the deadline for the next Grammys, but who cares about rules when Adele delivers her critically best album and cries to her little son about divorcing his dad on it. When the 2022 Grammy nominations are announced next week on November 23, expect them to announce that there are no nominations because Adele’s 30 has already won everything and they’re actually changing the name from the Grammys to the Adeles.
