Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s Podcast Deal With Spotify Is Over
Meghan Markle’s Spotify podcast, Archetypes, consistently charted high and won several awards, even though I don’t know anyone in real life who tuned in, even ironically. But it seemed like a perfect fit for her since she could collect her flowers and do her women’s activism thing by taking on honorable causes like giving Paris Hilton a platform to clarify that her whole dumb baby-voiced bimbo schtick was just a decades-long ruse on us dumb-dumbs. However, Archewell Audio (consisting of Prince Harry and Meghan) and Spotify just announced that their $20 million partnership has ended. But reportedly, the Duke and Duchess haven’t produced enough content to receive the full payout.
Meghan Markle Has Filed To Trademark The Name Of Her Podcast, “Archetypes”
Now we finally know the name of Meghan Markle’s podcast with Spotify and it’s called Archetypes, which makes plenty of sense, considering Meghan and Prince Harry are really into branding that’s borrowed from their son’s name, Archie. Their non-profit charity was named Archewell, their podcasting production company is called Archewell Audio, and now we’ve got Archetypes, the first episode dropping…TBA sometime this summer. We don’t have a concrete date for that first episode’s premiere, but we do know that Meghan has been busy making sure all her legal bases are covered before it happens.
Meghan Markle’s First Podcast Series For Spotify Will Debut This Summer
At long last, Archwell Audio has announced that Mehgan Markle has finally gotten, or will be getting, her ass in the studio to record a “groundbreaking first Spotify podcast series” which is set to premiere this summer. Meghan and Prince Harry’s first and only bit of content since signing a multi-year deal with Spotify way back in December of 2020, was a single 30-minute episode they let their baby talk on. According to People, a press release from Archwell Audio mentions that AA is “eager to be responsible stewards of an audio landscape,” which is either a dig at Joe Rogan, or evidence that they took advantage of Joe getting busted for acting up and telling lies in class, to get an extension on their homework.

It’s not exactly the greatest time to be a member of the Spotify customer service support team right now. Rock icon Neil Young decided he’d officially had enough of Joe Rogan’s unrestrained ability to spread COVID-19 misinformation on his podcast platform, so Neil requested that his music be pulled from the streaming site (Spotify obliged by pulling all of Neil’s solo work). The legendary Joni Mitchell followed Neil by protesting Spotify’s choice to promote “irresponsible people spreading lies” and had her music wiped from the platform as well. Well, Spotify recently found themselves squaring off against two more unhappy famous people that were pissed off enough to…contact Spotify with their complaints! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a multi-year podcast deal with Spotify, but they recently let it be known that they too have voiced their concern about the misinformation spread on the platform. And maybe enough people with legitimate credibility have spoken up because Spotify says they’ll be adding COVID warnings, while Joe Rogan has apologized to Spotify for the backlash.

You know you really fucked up when you start pissing off the Canadians. Earlier this month a group of 270 doctors and scientists released an open letter to Spotify asking them to do something about “menace to public health” Joe Rogan because he keeps mouth-farting out all sorts of COVID-19-related misinformation to his millions of listeners. Then this week, Neil Young threw down an ultimatum to Spotify, telling them that either Joe Rogan goes, or he goes. Spotify sided with Joe Rogan and pulled most of Neil Young’s music, which was the opposite of $urprising since Spotify has a $100 million multi-year deal with Joe Rogan. And now the legendary Joni Mitchell, whose vast catalog is a treasure trove for ears, has announced that she’s looked at it from both sides now and she’s on Neil’s side.
