Meghan Markle’s First Podcast Series For Spotify Will Debut This Summer

At long last, Archwell Audio has announced that Mehgan Markle has finally gotten, or will be getting, her ass in the studio to record a “groundbreaking first Spotify podcast series” which is set to premiere this summer. Meghan and Prince Harry’s first and only bit of content since signing a multi-year deal with Spotify way back in December of 2020, was a single 30-minute episode they let their baby talk on. According to People, a press release from Archwell Audio mentions that AA is “eager to be responsible stewards of an audio landscape,” which is either a dig at Joe Rogan, or evidence that they took advantage of Joe getting busted for acting up and telling lies in class, to get an extension on their homework.

As we know, back in January, Joe got sent to the Principal Spotify’s office for spreading disinformation about COVID-19 on his hit podcast The Joe Rogan Experience. He eventually came back to class with crumbs on his face and a smirk, letting everybody know that he’s the principal’s pet. Instead of getting a slap on the wrist, he was invited to have a seat and put his feet on the desk while they yukked it up for a minute before he was dismissed with a begrudging, “just try to take it down a notch, OK? You want a donut? Just don’t tell them you got it from me!” At the time, Meghan and Harry responded that AA had been concerned about misinformation on the platform since April of 2021, letting us know that they were concerned before it was cool. Now they seem to be making “concern” part of their brand by making it fashion. People reports:

The Archewell Audio spokesperson addressed those ongoing concerns in Thursday’s announcement, saying that Meghan and her Archewell Audio team have worked closely with Spotify — and their senior leadership — to ensure that the digital technologies so many of us use every day are rooted in strong principles of trust and safety.

As production moves forward on Meghan’s podcast series, Archewell Audio is eager to be responsible stewards of an audio landscape that is well-resourced with quality, fact-based information—particularly when it comes to public health, the spokesperson added.

As for the content of Meghan’s show, it’s possible that it’s the project Spotify was hiring for back in January. They were looking for producers with “experience working with high-profile talent, and an interest in the intersection of social activism and popular culture.”

An Archewell Audio spokesperson confirmed to PEOPLE on Thursday that the Duchess of Sussex’s groundbreaking first Spotify podcast series is set to launch this summer.

The spokesperson added that more details about Meghan’s podcast series will be shared soon.

Meghan and her husband Prince Harry announced a multi-year partnership between Spotify and their production company Archewell Audio in 2020 with the goal to “build community through shared experience, narratives and values.”

OK, so we have a mystery series with a vague release date and reports of a murky conversation with Spotify about somebody doing something “rooted in strong principles of trust and safety”? Got it! Maybe Meghan will get baby Lillibet on the mic to recite the story of George Washington and the cherry tree while she sits back and munches on a word salad.
