Amy Schumer Made Fun Of Leonardo DiCaprio, Regina Hall Looked For A Man, And All Three Hosts Chanted “Gay! Gay! Gay!” At Last Night’s Oscars
As expected, the Oscars had three hosts last night: Amy Schumer, Regina Hall, and Wanda Sykes. And they joked that the Academy hired three women because it’s cheaper than hiring one man. But after that, they all went in different directions. Wanda Sykes did Wanda Sykes, Regina Hall turned the Oscars into a dating show (while possibly catching a sexual harassment charge), and Amy Schumer decided to become the Ricky Gervais of the Oscars by mildly roasting tricks.
The 2022 Oscars are set for March 27, and even though we got the nominations last week, the Academy still hasn’t announced who’s hosting. Rumored contenders included Pete Davidson, and Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez from Only Murders in the Building. But now Variety is reporting that Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes, and Regina Hall are in final talks to co-host together. Errr, together but separate. Apparently, producer Will Packer wants to split the show into three acts, with each woman hosting a different hour. So there’s still a very good chance this shit won’t pass the Bechdel test.
The stars of Girls Trip, Queen Latifah, Regina Hall, and Tiffany Haddish, joined Jada Pinkett Smith for a special Zoom version of Red Table Talk. They shot the shit, talked about a possible Girls Trip sequel (they’re “all down”), and discussed their celebrity crushes. Regina says hers is the Dalai Lama and Jada’s husband Will Smith. Tiffany likes Giancarlo Stanton from the Yankees (yeah, me no know who that is either), and Jada says she never misses a sexy Governor Andrew Cuomo press conference (I prefer Chris, but fair).
When it was Queen Latifah’s turn, she said her crush was Adriana Lima. Even though lots of straight women do that “my girl crush is…” thing, we all know that Queen Latifah (ALLEGEDLY) isn’t a straight woman. So it wasn’t a nothing moment. Especially since the 50-year-old has never spoken publicly about her sexuality or her ALLEGED partner, 41-year-old former Lakers cheerleader/choreographer Eboni Nichols, whom she ALLEGEDLY welcomed a baby with last year. You can always count on any BET red carpet to provide some high fashion “moments”, and last night’s BET Awards was no exception. The MET Gala would have been smart to reference “BET red carpet” when trying to get clueless celebrities to grasp the concept of camp. RuPaul’s zebra suit would have looked right at home given the profusion of sequins, pastels, neon, and sculptural pieces that walked the BET carpet. For example, take aspiring rapper/entrepreneur/wig maker to the stars Cliff Vmir (above). His title alone is plenty camp, but throw in a chartreuse vinyl jumpsuit and top it off with a day-glo Victorian fringed lampshade, you’ve got a weenie roast with s’mores for dessert.
