The 2022 Oscar Nominees Have Been Announced!

Today’s the big day! If you woke up because of a loud shrieking echoing across the sky, it was probably because you’re on the West Coast and after the East Coast saw the 2022 Oscars nominees this morning, Lady Gaga cried out in anguish over her snubbing and the thunder generated from her bellows cracked open the clouds like a nuke. Yup, all her hard work hitting that Oscar-campaign ho-stroll pavement telling us about getting attacked by flies and going method, and she has nothing to show for it. House of Gucci only got a single nomination for Best Makeup and Hairstyling and let’s be real–Cruella or Dune is gonna beat it. Womp-womp! Looks like the ghost of Princess Diana really was with Kristen Stewart as she’s the lucky one with a Best Actress nominee. But the big winner of the nominees day announcement is The Power of the Dog which leads the pack with a total of 12 nominations. All that nicotine poisoning Benedict Cumberbatch endured really paid off!

This morning, Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan announced the nominees for the 94th annual Oscars, which will be on March 27. The Hollywood Reporter says that TPOTD isn’t the only big winner, and Dune also has ten nominations, although it was blocked out from all the acting and directing categories. Steven Spielberg‘s West Side Story may have been a flop at the box office, but the movie still got itself seven nominations, as did the Belfast. Madonna must be absolutely tickled because not only did her doppelganger Lady Gaga get shafted, but her fave movie Licorice Pizza got several big nominations, like Best Picture.

I don’t know why Gaga’s method acting didn’t resonate, but Benedict’s did as he got himself a Best Actor nomination. And Jesse Plemons must really be glad he put up with the harassment and that one fat-joke that got to him because he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor, for his performance in PotD, along with his co-star Kodi Smit-McPhee. And Kirsten Dunst also got a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her performance in PotD, making her and Jesse one of two couples who got acting nominations (the other couple is Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem).

So, I guess Gaga should take notes. The way to get an Oscar nom is not to ham it up on set and then go through an EXCRUTIATINGLY TRANSPARENT promotional campaign–it’s to be bullied by Benedict Cumberbatch.
