Many moons ago, there was a moment during the Oscars where Will Smith introduced the inside of his hand to Chris Rock‘s face for the first (and hopefully) last time. And even though we can finally hear the fading remnants of that slap disappear into the background there are still people who are interested in its aftermath. Including The Academy. Will has attempted an apology multiple times while Chris has primarily remained silent, as he should because there might be another slap awaiting him in case he starts snitching!! And with this knowledge in mind, Chris rejected an offer to host the Oscars in the future, even though it would be the perfect opportunity to exact his revenge.

4 months after The Slap™ heard round the world, Will Smith has posted a video apologizing to Chris Rock for his actions at the 2022 Oscars. Will’s YouTube vid, titled “It’s been a minute….”, clocks in at 5 minutes and 44 seconds, and features Will answering so-called fan questions. These questions include, “Why didn’t you apologize to Chris during your acceptance speech?”, “After Jada rolled her eyes, did she tell you to do something?”, and “Why did you choose to sit directly in front of a white ball light while wearing a white ball cap? It makes you look like an egg head. I feel like the production designer for this apology video should’ve caught that. Are you planning to slap the production designer for this apology video?”

The 2022 Oscars aired just over a month ago (bitch, it feels like 134 years), and, while so-and-so and the other guy may have dominated the headlines, we mustn’t forget the return of Liza Minnelli, who presented the award for Best Picture with Lady Gaga. A week ago Liza’s longtime collaborator, Michael Feinstein, said the legendary entertainer was disappointed by the appearance. She’d planned to present in a director’s chair, but a stage manager insisted that she use a wheelchair. This last-minute decision left Liza “shaken”, and she didn’t like how she came across onstage.
Two days ago Michael uploaded a video of Liza on the way to the Academy Awards, and she seems a helluva lot more lively than she did on TV. The clip shows 76-year-old Liza sitting in a car (sans seatbelt), smoking a ciggie (sans ashtray), and belting out the old song, “(It’s Gonna Be A) Great Day!” It’s serving, “the Uber from the pre-drink to the bar.” Except without the water bottle filled with vodka.

Are you sick of talking about The Slap yet? Chris Rock sure is. It’s been exactly one month since Will Smith decided to defend his wife’s honor by stepping on stage at the 2022 Academy Awards and guaranteeing himself a decade-long ban from the Oscars by slapping Chris Rock in the face after Chris made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head. Everyone continues to weigh in on the situation with their thoughts, including Chris Rock’s own mother (naturally, she’s Team Chris). And since Chris can’t avoid the conversation that just won’t die, he has allegedly decided the best plan of action is to drown it all out by wearing headphones whenever he goes out in public. I guess buying a megaphone and screaming, “Will you shut the fuck up about the slap, PLEASE” every time he leaves his house felt like overkill.
