The Theme For The 2020 Met Gala Is About Time
Very few in Hollywood seemed to grasp the concept of Susan Sontag’s Notes on Camp theme from last year’s Met Gala. Camp should have been a slam dunk, but we are living in supremely stupid times. I get it though, camp is subjective. There’s still a war raging somewhere on the internet over whether or not a giant foam hamburger is campy (IMO: it wasn’t at the time, but it is now). Thankfully, Vogue just revealed the theme for the The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute 2020 Met Gala, and it’s less of a thinker. The theme is About Time: Fashion and Duration. The bad news is that it’s inspired by the writings of Virginia Woolf. The good news is, at least for the Koven, is that there’s a movie version.
Jeremy Meeks Is About To Have His Own Fashion Line
Jeremy Meeks may have successfully secured the bag by pumping a baby into an heiress (Top Shop heir Chloe Green to be exact), but that doesn’t mean his true passions have been fulfilled. Jeremy has moved on to the next phase in his plan to take the fashion world by storm. Jeremy probably sat up late nights in his prison cell devising one of the most convoluted plans ever concocted to get his name and face (literally!) on a poly-blend t-shirt. And it worked! Jeremy just announced a collaboration with a German-based fashion company generically named Fashion Concept GmbH (don’t bother looking for a website). WWD reports that the deal is said to be worth $15 million dollars, roughly equivalent to the May/June diesel fuel budget for Chloe’s dad’s yacht.
Open Post: Hosted By Post Malone’s Bud Light-Inspired Fashion Line
Post Malone has come out with a crazy expensive Bud Light fashion collection, including $250 jeans with the words Bud Light written all over them and $85 sweat pants with the same print. So I know that the Olsen Twins perfected the homeless chic look, but this is next level expensive trash bag look. Post basically made a fashion line that your parents first did when they saved up all their Marlboro miles and got a new T-shirt.
“Summer Camp” Was The Unspoken Theme Of The BET Awards Red Carpet
You can always count on any BET red carpet to provide some high fashion “moments”, and last night’s BET Awards was no exception. The MET Gala would have been smart to reference “BET red carpet” when trying to get clueless celebrities to grasp the concept of camp. RuPaul’s zebra suit would have looked right at home given the profusion of sequins, pastels, neon, and sculptural pieces that walked the BET carpet. For example, take aspiring rapper/entrepreneur/wig maker to the stars Cliff Vmir (above). His title alone is plenty camp, but throw in a chartreuse vinyl jumpsuit and top it off with a day-glo Victorian fringed lampshade, you’ve got a weenie roast with s’mores for dessert.
Here’s A Look At Rihanna’s New Fenty Fashion Line
My financial allegiance to Rihanna tops out at about $24. That’s the cost of a Fenty Beauty Stunna lip paint. However if for some reason I did want to spend thousands of dollars to take a fancy business meeting dressed like Mrs. Murdock from Grease, I’d look no further than Rihanna’s newly launched LVMH Fenty luxury fashion line. RiRi shared a sneak peak of the line which according to Financial Times includes items ranging from “€200 for a corset T-shirt to €1,100 for a reversible coat” (that’s about $225 to $1, 230 USD), or 8-50 Stunnas!
The “Camp” Theme Of Tonight’s Met Gala Has Made Some Celebrities Nervous
In the most simplest terms, the annual Met Gala, which takes place tonight, is a prom for famous people, and the theme for its 71st iteration revolves around the word “camp.” And not the kind of camp with s’mores and bear attacks. The “camp” they’re looking for is over-the-top and theatrical which should come naturally to most celebrities since they spend the majority of their lives being over-the-top and theatrical. In a surprising twist, though, some celebrities are freaking out with trying to get the theme 100% correct as to avoid the judgmental gaze of Medusa’s sister Anna Wintour, who probably can’t wait to turn those that fail her challenge into stone with her timeless Resting Bitch Face of Death.
