Here’s Kristen Stewart As Princess Diana For The Upcoming Biopic “Spencer”
Back in June, when it was announced that Kristen Stewart would play Princess Diana in a new biopic, the world replied with a collective, “The fuck?” Whatever you think of her as an actress, the resemblance is not uncanny. And after Emma Corrin turned it out (in my opinion) as a young Diana on the latest season of The Crown, it was like… your move, K. Stew. Well, today the producers released their first image of Kirsten as Lady Di in Spencer, and it’s not terrible!
Netflix Says It Will NOT Add A Fiction Disclaimer To “The Crown”
Netflix has come to a decision about that fiction disclaimer Britain’s Culture Secretary, Oliver Dowden, wanted them to attach to their series The Crown. Variety says that while British cultural institutions don’t appreciate the dramatization of the Royal Family, they will have to deal with it. Netflix is going to show The Crown without a disclaimer.
Helena Bonham Carter Says “The Crown” Should Stress To Viewers That It’s Fiction
The Crown’s fact vs. fiction controversy continues. Since the fourth season premiered on Netflix, fans of the monarchy have voiced their fear that the show is damaging to the Royal Family’s reputation, which, as we all know, was previously impeccable. Critics include The Daily Mail, “sources” close to the Royals, and Britain’s Culture Secretary, Oliver Dowden. Oliver thinks Netflix should add a “this is a work of fiction” disclaimer before each episode. Now Helena Bonham Carter, who portrays Princess Margaret on the show, has added her two cents pence. She told the show’s official podcast that there was an important distinction between “our version”, and the “real version”.

As we all know by now, the Royal Family’s usual response to a messy situation they’ve been either dragged into or generally associated with is a polite hand wave and the heavy implication that there will be no comment on the matter. Sometimes it requires a statement, like when they really want to be removed from the narrative, or the odd time you’ll get some random sources spilling the beans on their behalf. Currently, the Royal Family has found itself drama-adjacent after the BBC decided to open an investigation into the late Princess Diana’s infamous 1995 television interview with Martin Bashir for Panorama. Prince William has decided to say something about that investigation, and he’s very much in support of it.
The Royal Family Has Some Grievances With Season 4 Of “The Crown”
The Firm is reportedly “NONE TOO PLEASED” about their portrayal in the current fourth season of The Crown which covers events from 1979 through 1990, a period that includes Prince Charles’ marriage to Lady Diana and his affair with Camila Parker Bowles. And according to The Daily Mail, friends of the family say that Prince Charles feels exploited, Prince William is irritated, and as for Prince Andrew, well nobody wanted to say his name but we can presume he’s appalled anew at The Royal Family being depicted as “grotesque caricatures” by Netflix with little thought given to their feelings. Especially when we know who the REAL villain is and for once I’m not talking about Margaret Thatcher. No, it’s Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of course, for cashing in on his family’s pain by sleeping with the enemy.

And now for some ice-cold, frozen solid tea, courtesy of the Royals. There’s yet another Princess Diana documentary out, ITV’s The Diana Interview: Revenge of a Princess. Revenge, eh? Does Diana crawl out of the grave and club the Queen with her own scepter? Or does an old friend share gossip about Prince Charles being a shit husband? It’s the latter (snooore). The late princess’ astrologer, Penny Thornton, claims that the night before their 1981 wedding, Charles told Diana he didn’t actually love her. Hmmm… I guess that technically counts as the “something blue”?
