Twitter Is Going Crazy Over A Rumor That Aaron Taylor-Johnson Cheated On His Wife With Joey King
SO. There’s an Internet rumor going around that Aaron Taylor-Johnson had an affair with his Bullet Train co-star, Joey King. Neither party is single: 23-year-old Joey is engaged to 30-year-old producer/director Steven Piet, and as we all know, 32-year-old Aaron has been with his wife, 55-year-old director Sam Taylor-Johnson, for 13 years. Now, when a celebrity cheating rumor breaks, people tend to take the side of the cheated-on (see: John Mulaney and Anna Marie Tendler). But Sam has long been criticized as a “groomer” because she pursued Aaron when she directed him in the 2009 film Nowhere Boy (POWER IMBALANCE). He was 18, and she was 42 (AGE GAP). Sam offered Aaron the role in the movie following a private audition at her house (WEIRD). The couple announced their engagement in October 2009, and Sam gave birth to their first daughter the following summer (FAST). This is all to say: Twitter hates Sam, and they’re pretty much throwing a party over these totally unfounded Joey-Aaron rumors.

Since I have a great respect for both my time and my ears, I don’t listen to Sam Smith. But it’s mostly because the only thing I think of when I see their face is the time they won an Oscar for singing some James Bond theme song, hopped up onto the stage, and proclaimed to be the first gay person to win the award (despite that being so unbelievably not true). So, needless to say, when Sam Smith makes a proclamation that doesn’t come with a CVS-length roll of receipts, I tend to be a little skeptical. But anyway…Sam says that they recently got kicked off of a dating app––and not for allegedly fat-shaming his matches or making sweeping statements about how much Michael Jackson sucks. This reason was much more believable.

Well, MTV has done it! They’ve shown that you can put on a star-studded spectacle in the middle of a global pandemic and proved beyond a doubt that it’s a very dumb idea. MTV dared to do what the other girls wouldn’t and risked everybody’s health by inviting confirmed disease vector Doja Cat (who really should have that glowing fish whistle looked at) and others to walk a virtual red carpet set up for last night’s MTV VMAs.
