Twitter Is Going Crazy Over A Rumor That Aaron Taylor-Johnson Cheated On His Wife With Joey King
SO. There’s an Internet rumor going around that Aaron Taylor-Johnson had an affair with his Bullet Train co-star, Joey King. Neither party is single: 23-year-old Joey is engaged to 30-year-old producer/director Steven Piet, and as we all know, 32-year-old Aaron has been with his wife, 55-year-old director Sam Taylor-Johnson, for 13 years. Now, when a celebrity cheating rumor breaks, people tend to take the side of the cheated-on (see: John Mulaney and Anna Marie Tendler). But Sam has long been criticized as a “groomer” because she pursued Aaron when she directed him in the 2009 film Nowhere Boy (POWER IMBALANCE). He was 18, and she was 42 (AGE GAP). Sam offered Aaron the role in the movie following a private audition at her house (WEIRD). The couple announced their engagement in October 2009, and Sam gave birth to their first daughter the following summer (FAST). This is all to say: Twitter hates Sam, and they’re pretty much throwing a party over these totally unfounded Joey-Aaron rumors.
Here’s where the affair allegations began. According to Her Campus, TikTok gossip-monger @thekylemarisa recently posted a video reading an anonymous blind item from Crazy Days and Nights:
“I don’t know if they hooked up while filming, but this married A-list actor is hooking up with this A-list tween actress turned A-/B+ list adult actress during their press trip for the movie they shot.”
After she reads it aloud, Kyle shows the “related headline” she claims was beside the blind; a Just Jared article titled “Joey King Serves Up a Daring Look at ‘Bullet Train’ Paris Photo Call!” Here’s the TikTok:

Kyle shared three more blind items allegedly about Aaron. One tackled “the salacious timeline on Aaron Taylor-Johnson and his geriatric wife’s (!!!) relationship.” It claims the couple hooked up much earlier than reported. Aaron was actually only 16 years old, and that was the reason Sam split from her first husband, Jay Jopling, in 2008. The next blind item alleged that Aaron had a woman in his hotel room while promoting Bullet Train in Tokyo. The third claimed that Aaron and Sam were already split up and figuring out their divorce. Whew!
Now, as we all know, blind items are as notoriously unreliable as Lindsay Lohan on a film set in the late 2000s, and there’s zero proof of any of this. But both TikTok commenters and Twitter users took these rumors and straight-up CELEBRATED them:

Another strange layer to this story is this bizarre TikTok trend where young people cannot stand poor Joey King. Many have admitted there’s no good reason for their hate, there’s just something about her. She’s their celebrity nemesis. So, like that rat-bastard Vince Vaughn and me. Got it. But now that these rumors are out there, TikTokkers are doing a complete 180 on Joey. One person writes, “she’s literally my number one enemy but anyone’s better than granny.” Another says, “never thought i would be rooting for joey king but here we are.” Fascinating.
So far, none of the parties involved have confirmed or denied the rumors, which makes sense. According to Crazy Days and Nights, these two are A-list and A-/B+ STAHS (I’d say Bs across the board, but, hey, I’m no entertainment lawyer). Why would they waste their time debunking random blind items? Anyway, they’re probably too busy whooping it up in their Paris hotel room. “Voulez-vous coucher avec moi (ce soir)? Just don’t tell my geriatric wife…”
