It started with things like “who will play Elvis Presley?” “What about Priscilla Presley?” “Will the actor who gets the titular role actually have to choke down a peanut butter/bacon/banana sandwich on the toilet during filming?” Maybe that last one was just me. Now that the movie is in the can and we know all of the “whos,” Baz revealed some of the “whys.” People like Ansel Elgort, G-Eazy, Miles Teller and Harry Styles were talked about as possible Elvis-es before the role ultimately went to Austin Butler. Baz recently revealed the rationale behind one candidate getting tossed out: Harry Styles didn’t get it because he’s already Harry Styles.

Liam Payne used to be in a boyband with a bunch of other dudes of different fame levels. Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson were all members of One Direction with Liam back in the day. And yes, I listed then by fame level. During an appearance on Logan Paul‘s podcast, Liam, I guess, decided to toss away all that boyish shit to the side and basically shaded the whole band. Liam said one got physical with him, he was actually the main one, and that he “doesn’t agree with any” of what Zayn Malik has been up to. One can assume he means all the domestic issues he had with his ex, Gigi Hadid‘s, mother, Yolanda Hadid. It was enough to have Liam trending as the Villain of the Day in some circles more so than when he maybe cheated on his ex-fiancé.

Ever since Harry Styles went solo and his team has been doing him up in looks straight from the 70s Glam Rock Starter Kit, he has been called the Muppet Babies version of Mick Jagger, Elton John, Freddie Mercury, and David Bowie. We can’t ask for Bowie’s and Freddie’s thoughts on being one of Harry Styles’ impersonations since they’re busy giving the angels the tingles by crotch-thrusting in the afterworld. Elton John seems to be okay with the comparison since he’s praised Harry before. And the topic of Harry Styles was brought up during a recent interview between The Rolling Stones and The Times of London, and Mick likes Harry but said he was way more androgynous back in the day, that Harry is a “superficial resemblance” to his younger self, and that Harry doesn’t “move on stage” like him. Okay, I was with Mick Jagger until Mick just had to go ahead and terrorize my mind by making me think of Adam Levine yodeling out the horribly false claim that he’s got the moves like Jagger. Damn you, Mick!

This past weekend, the Coachella Valley in California saw a gaggle of influencers take a billion selfies while done up like rejects at a Mad Max-themed rave and that could mean only one thing: It’s Coachella time. The first week of Coachella (the influencer photo-shoot location that is also a musical festival) happened over the weekend. Friday night’s headliner was Harry Styles and Big Sean also performed that day. Then again, Harry Styles’ new song, “As It Was,” released earlier today, could just be a song Harry randomly thought up while he was picking out which pair of retro polyester bell bottoms he was going to wear one morning.
