Billy Porter Talks About Being HIV-Positive Since 2007
Two–time Hot Slut of the Month winner (an achievement greater than his Tony, Grammy, and Emmy awards, honestly) Billy Porter has been living with HIV for the past 14 years. But none of us knew about that until today because he’s been keeping it on the shush. Shame and fear kept Billy from publicly talking about it, but the pandemic forced us all into lockdown, which quieted things for Billy and allowed him to deal with the traumas in his life. Billy finally kicked down that bitch known as shame and opened up about his diagnosis to the cast of Pose and even his own mother, something he thought he’d never do.
This Year’s Met Gala Is Still Happening And Will Be Held In September
The Met Gala will return this year, like a golden fashion-phoenix from the germ-infested ashes of 2020 (see: above photo). Last year’s event (the theme was “time”) was obviously canceled cuz of the pandemic, and Billy Porter and Vogue’s at-home #MetGalaChallenge on Instagram just wasn’t the same. This year’s theme will be a celebration of American and American designers and will be co-hosted by poet Amanda Gorman and probably Tom Ford (he’s been approached). And no, that shit won’t be the first Monday in May like usual. The event’s been pushed to September 13, in the hopes that the world will be back to “normal” by then.
FX’s “Pose” Will End With Season 3
FX’s Pose, the series all about the ballroom scene, is coming to an end, as series creators Ryan Murphy and Steven Canals revealed that its upcoming third season will be the last. So you’re saying FX can have a thousand different iterations of American Horror Story but no more Pose? First, gay pride events get canceled for coronavirus, and now Pose is gone too? The gays haven’t taken this many hits since Ellen Degeneres told us she loves George Bush.
Open New Year’s Day Post: Hosted By Cyndi Lauper’s NYE Performance
Because too much Ryan Seacrest gives me a serious case of the farts, I only watched pieces of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve last night, so I completely missed the performance by Cyndi Lauper. But after she performed, I started to see tweets and headlines about how “bizarre” it was. I shrugged because she IS so unusual and I like my Cyndi Lauper performances “bizarre.” And then I figured out that by “bizarre,” everyone meant bad. Well, looks like Hell’s Special Place is going to be a lot more crowded with those who spent the last minutes of 2020 dragging legendary goddess Cyndi Lauper!
Celebrities Stunted From Home For The 72nd Emmys “Red Carpet”
The Emmys happened last night despite nobody being allowed near each other due to coronavirus still spreading through humanity one TikTok party mansion at a time. A few celebrities (like Jennifer Aniston, Tracee Ellis Ross, Laverne Cox, etc…) showed up at the Staples Center to present, but most celebrities stayed home. The ceremonial red carpet was switched up and the famous people just took their own pics and posted them themselves. Their choice of professional photography and they don’t have to make small talk with whatever half-peasant correspondent was put in front of them? Talk about a big win.
Entertainment Weekly Released Their Pride Cover, And People Have Opinions
June is right around the corner, and ya know what that means… Pride Month! Unfortunately for the LGBTQ+ community, many Pride celebrations have been canceled because of this party pooper (possibly homophobic?) pandemic.
