Open Post: Hosted By Ramy Youssef Showing The World What Happens When You Don’t Win An Emmy

September 21, 2020 / Posted by:

Since last night’s Emmys were broadcast remotely, nominees didn’t get the privilege of losing in front of an audience of A-listers. Instead, they Zoomed in from the safety of their homes. And the Emmys got creative with how they’d actually present the awards. Presenters in custom-designed tuxedo hazmat suits were sent to the houses of some nominees. Their job was to stand silently outside holding the nominee’s potential Emmy statue. If you won, hazmat guy would give you your Emmy. If you lost, they would bash you to death with the award in front of your loved ones. Nooo, they’d actually… well, let Ramy star Ramy Youssef, who lost the awards for Best Actor and Best Directing in a Comedy Series to Eugene Levy and the Schitt’s Creek crew, show you firsthand.

“Schitt’s Creek” Swept The Emmys To The Delight Of Many (But Not Leslie Jones)

September 21, 2020 / Posted by:

Last night’s Emmys was a Schitt’s storm of epic proportions and I’m not talking about the writing. No, I’m making an obvious and lazy pun based on the fact that Schitt’s Creek swept the show, winning in every comedy category of the night. And because of the order in which the categories were presented, the entire first hour of the broadcast was just creator, writer and star Daniel Levy scrambling to decide whether to leave the mask on or take it off each time his show won an Emmy. Which was 9 times! The show set a record for the “most wins in a single season for a comedy” (per The Hollywood Reporter) and almost everybody was happy for them. Everyone that is except Leslie Jones. Yes, it would seem the rather tall lady from SNL does not enjoy gentle Canadian comedy. It’s weird because hating on Schitt’s Creek is like hating on an adorable kitten with markings that make it look like it has Groucho Marx eyebrows. Who could be mad at that?!

Zendaya Became The Youngest Youngin’ To Win The Emmy For Lead Actress In A Drama, And A Record Number Of Black Actors Won

September 21, 2020 / Posted by:

If you told me years ago that a Disney Channel star would go on to have a serious acting career and win the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama, I’d assume it’d be Deedee Magno from MMC’s The Party or current OnlyFans scammer Bella Thorne for the riveting drama Famous In Love, but it was Bella’s Shake It Up co-star Zendaya who won her first Emmy at 24 years old for her performance as Rue in Euphoria (alternate title: Remind Me To Never Raise A Teenager). Surprisingly when Zendaya won, she didn’t say in her acceptance speech, “This is ALMOST better than the time I was runner-up on Dancing with the Stars!”

Celebrities Stunted From Home For The 72nd Emmys “Red Carpet”

September 21, 2020 / Posted by:

The Emmys happened last night despite nobody being allowed near each other due to coronavirus still spreading through humanity one TikTok party mansion at a time. A few celebrities (like Jennifer Aniston, Tracee Ellis Ross, Laverne Cox, etc…) showed up at the Staples Center to present, but most celebrities stayed home. The ceremonial red carpet was switched up and the famous people just took their own pics and posted them themselves. Their choice of professional photography and they don’t have to make small talk with whatever half-peasant correspondent was put in front of them? Talk about a big win.

Jennifer Aniston Saved The 2020 Emmy Awards From Going Up In Flames, Literally

September 21, 2020 / Posted by:

The 2020 Primetime Emmy Awards happened last night and it was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel who performed in front of like, three camera operators and a producer. There were cardboard cutouts instead of humans in the audience. Even though that sounds like a late-night TV host’s idea of Hell on Earth, Jimmy still put in the effort for all three hours.

To lighten up this year’s bleak circumstances for the isolated ceremony, Jimmy brought out a few people to help present awards, like his good pal Jennifer Aniston, who helped save him from a trashcan fire. A fitting, if not accidental, metaphor for the year so far. She also popped up in a mini Friends reunion, which was surely a nice little distraction for those who can say it hasn’t been their day, their week, their month, or even their year.

RuPaul Made Herstory By Winning His Fifth Consecutive Emmy

September 20, 2020 / Posted by:

Tonight is the big, 85-hour-long Emmys main event, but because there are approximately 9,876,988 Emmys to give out, the Creative Arts Emmys have been happening all week long. Nicole Byer hosted the five-night event, and she was up for the Emmy for Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Competition Program, making her the first Black woman to be nominated for that award. But RuPaul won that Emmy, as Nicole stood by thinking, “They got me to host this shit and didn’t even give me the Emmy?!” No, apparently, Nicole knew she was no match for Ru!
