The 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards were on last night and famous
tree actress, Scarlett Johansson took home this year’s Generation Award. Or rather, it was mailed to her because her ass accepted from home. This isn’t the Oscars! People says that during her acceptance speech her husband Colin Jost decided to prank her by sliming her like they do at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
The MTV Movie & TV Awards happened last night, and because of COVID-19, it was a subtle, understated affair. At least in terms of tech specs. Much like the 2020 Primetime Emmys before it, the MTV Movie & TV Awards also pushed the limits of green screen technology. The reason for the GOAT season was that MTV decided this year, they wouldn’t be awarding the best in movies and TV. Because I guess MTV understands that a good number of people have spent the past 8 months streaming old episodes of Jersey Shore while crying. So instead, they honored the greatest of all time – the GOATs – of movies and TV from the past four decades.
For those of you who aren’t part of Bachelor nation, the fellow above isn’t the result of scientists trying to make Michael Bublé look even more like a generic white guy. It’s Colton Underwood, the virgin bachelor from The Bachelor. And during MTV Movie & TV Awards, which aired last night, Colton won a golden popcorn trophy for Most Meme-able Moment. But I demand a recount, because he was up against Lindsay Lohan, who obviously should have won by a landslide.
The MTV Movie & TV Awards are really one of the awards shows in which one can wear whatever one wants. Milo Ventimiglia, for example, put on his best “70s divorced dad trolling the singles bars” look. And Chrissy Metz from This Is Us decided she wanted to wear a latex ensemble while presenting the Best Duo award with her TV dad.
This was the first year that the MTV Movie & TV Awards decided not to split up the acting nominees by gender. For example, the category for Best Actor in a Movie featured three men and three women. Same with Best Hero. Best Actor in a TV Show had four girls and two dudes. It was a very woke show. Emma Watson was up for Best Actor for playing a book-reading beastiality enthusiast in the live-action Beauty and the Beast. She won.
But in Backdoor Farrah’s defense, she’d look like an embarrassing and desperate mess even if she didn’t show up to the MTV Movie & TV Awards in a costume found in the section marked “For Trashy Attention Whores Who Want Quick Attention” at the Haus of Cultural Appropriation.
