“A Strange Loop” Sashays To The Top Of The 2022 Tony Award Nominations
The 2021 Tony Awards were as novel as the COVID-19 coronavirus which resulted in a truncated season that left Moulin Rouge star Aaron Tveit as the only actor nominated in his category. *Spoiler alert* He won. But this year, Broadway told that bitch Rona, “we’ll do it live, fuck it!” and came back swinging for the 2022 season. Today, the Tony Award nominations were announced, and sadly, Neil Patrick Harris was snubbed for his role in Inside Inside Edition: The Bill O’Reilly Story: The Musical. But that’s probably because A Strange Loop, the Pulitzer-Prize winning musical by Michael R. Jackson, that has an entire number devoted to reading Tyler Perry for filth, gobbled up 11 nominations including Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Book of a Musical, Best Performance in a leading role for newcomer Jaquel Spivey and Best Performance in a Featured role for John-Andrew Morrison. So really, Madea should be on her hands and knees thanking Michael R. for getting her as close to a Tony Award, and a Pulitzer, as she’ll ever get.
The Reviews For The Broadway Revival Of “Funny Girl” Starring Beanie Feldstein Are In, And Well….
Fifty-eight years after the original Broadway production premiered in 1964, the first-ever revival of Funny Girl opened last night at the August Wilson Theater. On Barbra Streisand’s 80th birthday, no less! This time, the titular funny girl Fanny Brice is played by Beanie Feldstein, and I’m sure everyone involved with this revival was hoping for the kind of reviews that Babs saw back in the 60s. But alas – a whole bunch of critics had to go and rain on everyone’s metaphorical parade. This is wild, because there’s a song in Funny Girl that explicitly asks you not to do that! But those critics did, or rather – some of them did. Meanwhile, some of them enjoyed what they saw and heard.

After news broke that Funny Girl will make its return to Broadway and Beanie Feldstein will play the titular girl, the internet made sure to blow up perpetual theater kid Lea Michele’s phone with notifications. However, instead of sending congratulatory flowers laced with bird flu like we would expect the true villain of Glee to do, Lea just shared a happy comment on Beanie’s Instagram post. “Yes! YOU are the greatest star! This is going to be epic!” she presumably typed through gritted teeth
Now a few weeks have passed and guess what? Lea is still totally super happy about Beanie getting the role! It’s absolutely fine, everyone! We can stop asking! We didn’t ask? Oh. Anyway, Lea spoke about the news in a podcast.
Beanie Feldstein Was Confused As To Why Lea Michele, Who She Doesn’t Know Whatsoever, Was Trending After She Landed “Funny Girl”
I’m sure that many eardrums are still raw from Lea Michele’s high-pitched angry wail over the news that the first-ever Broadway revival of Funny Girl is happening in March 2022 and it’s happening without her in the role of Fanny Brice. That role has gone to Beanie Feldstein who is currently starring as Monica Lewinsky in Impeach Those Wigs: American Wig Story. When it was announced that Beanie will be the new Broadway Fanny Brice, Lea Michele’s name trended on Twitter because people were wondering how she’s taking the news. And as Lea grit her teeth down to nubs and tried to operate her iPhone keyboard as her hands shook with rage, she left Beanie a note of congratulations on Instagram that read: “Yes! YOU are the greatest star! This is going to be epic!!”
Well, Beanie was on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show, and since he’s an expert shit-stirrer, he brought up how Lea’s name trended on Twitter after it was announced that she got Fanny Brice. Beanie was confused by it all, but said that Lea left her a sweet note and then delivered the theater queen reboot of Mariah Carey’s “I don’t know her” by saying that she doesn’t “know the woman whatsoever.” The “whatsoever” really takes it to another level.

Last week we learned that actress and famous sibling Beanie Feldstein would play Fannie Brice in the first-ever Broadway revival of Funny Girl. That sentence alone could be the sole reason for Lea Michele’s Joker-style origin story, but according to many allegations from the past, Lea’s role as the villain began long before Beanie landed Funny Girl.
