Beanie Feldstein Was Confused As To Why Lea Michele, Who She Doesn’t Know Whatsoever, Was Trending After She Landed “Funny Girl”
I’m sure that many eardrums are still raw from Lea Michele’s high-pitched angry wail over the news that the first-ever Broadway revival of Funny Girl is happening in March 2022 and it’s happening without her in the role of Fanny Brice. That role has gone to Beanie Feldstein who is currently starring as Monica Lewinsky in Impeach Those Wigs: American Wig Story. When it was announced that Beanie will be the new Broadway Fanny Brice, Lea Michele’s name trended on Twitter because people were wondering how she’s taking the news. And as Lea grit her teeth down to nubs and tried to operate her iPhone keyboard as her hands shook with rage, she left Beanie a note of congratulations on Instagram that read: “Yes! YOU are the greatest star! This is going to be epic!!”
Well, Beanie was on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show, and since he’s an expert shit-stirrer, he brought up how Lea’s name trended on Twitter after it was announced that she got Fanny Brice. Beanie was confused by it all, but said that Lea left her a sweet note and then delivered the theater queen reboot of Mariah Carey’s “I don’t know her” by saying that she doesn’t “know the woman whatsoever.” The “whatsoever” really takes it to another level.
Funny Girl will open on Broadway at the August Wilson Theater on April 24, 2022 (previews start March 26, 2022), and joining Beanie will be Ramin Karimloo (as Nick Arnstein) and Jane Lynch (as Mrs. Rosie Brice).
Yup, Lea Michele’s Glee co-star Jane Lynch is in that shit. So Jane Lynch probably hit the block button on her phone after getting the 9,874th text from Lea over the betrayal of it all!
Lea has become tied to the role of Fanny Brice, because in the fifth season of Glee, her character, Rachel Berry, starred in a Broadway revival of Funny Girl. And Ryan Murphy was hoping to make that Glee nightmare come true when he bought the rights to Funny Girl in 2014 and hoped to produce a Broadway revival starring Lea. That didn’t happen.
And yesterday, Beanie was on Radio Andy with her Impeachment: American Crime Story co-stars, Sarah Paulson (Linda Tripp), and Annaleigh Ashford (Paula Jones), and Andy brought up Lea Michele:
Andy: By the way, you got that part and Lea Michele started trending on Twitter. Because everyone knew that she wanted the part. Has there been any correpsdence between you two yet? There will be at some point.
Beanie: I didn’t know that any of this was happening, by the way. And all of a sudden, people started explaining it to me, and I’m like, “ Wait, what?” I didn’t understand. But she very sweetly wrote on my Instagram. I don’t know the woman whatsoever.
Andy: Aw that’s nice. Oh good. Oh I love this. That’s a happy story that she wrote on her Instagram.
Beanie: Twitter is its own real world.

What’s even more awkward is that Beanie and Lea were at the same event, the launch of the Code (Red) campaign, in NYC last night (pictures below). So since Beanie doesn’t know the woman whatsoever, I’m guessing that this iconic moment of iconic moments was recreated:
Beanie may not know the woman whatsoever, but she will know all about the woman on April 24. Because when Beanie takes the stage on her big opening night, her singing will be drowned out by a yodeling coming from the sidewalk outside of the August Wilson Theater. It will be Lea Michele hollering out I’m The Greatest Star DAMMIT, with help from a karaoke machine, in the Broadway sidewalk debut of her one-woman show It Wasn’t Not Funny, Girl.
