Aaron Tveit Beat Himself To Win Best Actor In A Musical At Last Night’s Tony Awards

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s 74th Annual Tony Awards were actually last year’s Tony Awards, which was postponed since Broadway went dark. So the productions that were honored last night were from the 2019-2020 season. The Tony nominations were announced way back in October 2020, only one person was nominated in the category of Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical: Aaron Tveit, for Moulin Rouge!. If you’ve never gambled on showbiz-based odds in your life, last night was the night to call Las Vegas and dump your life savings in the Leading Actor race, because shock of all shocks, Aaron won in his category. But there were some pleasant surprises as well. For example, it’s Tony-Winner David Alan Grier now.

The 2021 Oscars Red Carpet > Brad Pitt’s Ponytail < Literally Anything Else

If last night’s Oscars ceremony can be summed up in a single image, it’s that of Brad Pitt’s struggle ponytail:

It was confusing, unnecessary, washed out, and honestly, kind of rude. Just like the show, it ended abruptly yet was also way too long. Give us Legends of the Fall locks undulating like a field of wheat in a summer breeze Brad, or give us nothing and keep it moving. Trust me, nobody wants a pinky finger’s worth of hay held together with the twist tie from a bag of Ezekiel bread. Thankfully Brad’s angry inch was outshone by the red carpet which was one of the only saving graces about this year’s ill-conceived mid-pandemic Oscars ceremony.

Ah, the Monday after Halloween. Every year it’s the same. The fun’s been had and all we have left are the memories of slutty vampires (like Demi Lovato, seen above) and, as is the case this year, even sluttier Tiger Kings, to break up the monotony of a long, dark fall. This year especially, there is literally nothing going on between now and Thanksgiving to distract us. NOT ONE THING! So let’s relive the excitement of the weekend before the mundanity of tomorrow saps us of every chilling thrill and thrilling chill the season has to offer.
