Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi’s Montecito Mansion Was Burglarized
2020 just keeps getting shittier for Ellen DeGeneres (and literally every other citizen of Planet Earth). TMZ says Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi’s fancy Montecito estate was burglarized on July 4 (rude, that’s America’s birthday!). Cops say their mansion was “targeted due to the victim’s celebrity status”, and don’t know if it’s connected to a bunch of other recent break-ins. The thieves took a bunch of expensive jewelry and watches. So far no word on the value of the items stolen.
There’s A New Article About How Working On “Ellen” Is Toxic
2020 has been difficult for all of us, but it’s been especially rough for Ellen DeGeneres’ formerly sterling reputation as the “Queen of Nice”. First there was that Twitter thread that donated to the LA Food Bank in exchange for every mean Ellen story (it basically solved world hunger). Then there was the scandal about Ellen employees barely getting paid during the pandemic. Then her former bodyguard from the 2014 Oscars came forward, claiming the experience was “demeaning”. Ellen also got into some trouble for comparing self-isolating in her mansion to prison, and releasing a tone-deaf statement about the Black Lives Matter movement.
Well, it’s another shitty day in Casa de DeGeneres. Because Buzzfeed took a break from publishing groundbreaking quizzes like “Pick The Yummiest Brunch, and We’ll Tell You If You’re Barren”, put on their best “investigative journalist” fedora, and released an article about the toxic working environment on Ellen. Ellen DeGeneres’ name recently trended alongside the word “canceled,” and I’m sure it made more than one person wonder what Ellen has done this time. Did Ellen say something out-of-touch, or did she accidentally let her devil horns pop out again? But there was a rumor going around the internet that her long-running daytime TV show Ellen is at risk of being canceled, but her production company says it’s not true.

Last night, the Daytime Emmys (the ugly step-sister of the more glamourous Primetime Emmys) were handed out, virtually––and for yet another year, a whole lot of NOTHING passing as riveting television won big. I can’t relate to anything on-air in the mornings because I’m usually either still passed out, or nursing an edibles-and-wine hangover while barely holding it together in a Zoom call. But after reading this list of winners, it’s clear that I’m not missing out on anything.

Noted monster and pusher of kindness, Ellen DeGeneres, cannot seem to catch a break in 2020. First, there were those resurfaced claims regarding her legendary meanness. Then COVID-19 forced her to bring her show into her living room WITHOUT the help of any of her dedicated crew members. And now, she can’t even seem to mumble out some nonsensical gobbledygook about supporting Black Lives Matter without it blowing up in her constantly sunburnt face (seriously girl, it’s called SPF).
