Debbie Reynolds Says Carrie Fisher Is In Stable Condition
The updates on Carrie Fisher’s health situation since she was rushed to the hospital after going into cardiac arrest on an airplane on Friday have had me on an emotional rollercoaster. It felt like I spent most of my Christmas Eve Eve watching the status of her condition go from “critical” to “stable” and back again. I was like “Jesus, Gary, just give me some good news!” The last we heard, Carrie’s brother Todd Fisher said that she was stabilized but in critical condition, and was in the ICU. Carrie’s mother Debbie Reynolds now says that her daughter is in stable condition.

I’ve gone on vacation with my family, which is sort of like hanging out with them at home. But instead of fighting in my mom’s living room, we fight at a restaurant and make all the other tourists uncomfortable. ‘Tis the season to make strangers nervously push their rice around while trying to drown out the sound of you and your sister fighting about Westworld theories.
Things will be a little lighter around here this week, but our resident guest providers of foolery, Ben and Krista, are coming in to help Allison and me out. They’ll be posting all this week and J. Harvey will cover Saturday. Everything will be back to normal on January 3rd. Although is it ever normal around here?
Yesterday, when I posted the soul-hurting news about George Michael’s death, I posted his performance of Somebody To Love at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. The last time we checked in on the skinny revolving door that is Leonardo DiCaprio’s dating life, Jack Nicholson Jr. was supposedly getting with bikini model Nina Agdal. After Christmas was ruined by George Michael leaving this world, I locked myself in a room with a few gallons of distilled water and crackers that had been blessed by a priest, because there’s still a few more days left in 2016 and no one is safe. You’re probably reading this from your panic room too. But while locked in my safe space, I watched nearly every music video that George Michael ever made and they’re all perfection, pretty much.
Freedom! ’90 is the Mona Lisa of George Michael’s videos, but for me, I Want Your Sex is a close second. Today, that video is so tame and G-rated that it could probably play on the Disney Channel and not one toddler would even think about clutching their invisible pearls. But back when it was released in 1987, it caused a mini escandalo for being so sexy. Those were the days when MTV played their most scandalous videos after dark and put a disclaimer before it.
At the time, George Michael was “dating” DJ/makeup artist Kathy Jeung and so she starred in the video. In the video, Kathy worked various wigs, brought the 80s glamour with frosted pink lipstick and let George Michael write the words “explore” and “monogamy” on her body. I thought she was glamour wrapped in hotness wrapped in another layer of glamour.
They really don’t make beards like Kathy Jeung anymore.
