Because nothing says “a celebration of American fashion” like wearing an outfit designed by a fashion house founded in Spain and currently operating in Paris, Kim Kardashian, who came to the Met Gala in a head-to-toe black stretch fabric costume made by Balenciaga. She looked like a not-smart high-fashion bank robber who forgot she could easily be identified by her butt. But, that’s not to say that Kim didn’t find a way to Kim up her look. Kim didn’t need to wear any makeup under that black mask, but according to her makeup artist, Kim kept it full-Kim under that outfit by wearing a full face of makeup.

The first Monday in May was moved to the second Monday in September, as the Met Gala, which benefits the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute, happened last night. The 2020 Met Gala was canceled because of our good friend Coronavirus, but this year’s Gathering Of Who’s Who And WHO?! was held last night and Anna Wintour is still planning another one for May 2022. But even though influencers and nobodies flooded the guestlist, some A-listers still showed up for the gala whose theme was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” And like always, most didn’t really dress in the theme or pulled the reach of reaches while trying to dress in the theme. Like Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes who brought Halloween to us a month early and showed up dressed like a low-budget Cher and a leather twink version of Sonny Bono.
Insiders Think That The Met Gala Is No Longer “Cool” Because The Guest List Is Full Of Influencers
Page Six says there’s drama brewing in the ultra-rich, ultra-famous crowd. The annual Met Gala run by the firm, icy grasp of Vogue‘s Anna Wintour, has always been a huge display of glamour and decadence, and scoring an invite was pretty much like Charlie Bucket finding a golden ticket in a chocolate bar. But no longer! Now it’s like showing up at a local Denny’s after the club B.C. (Before Coronavirus) because everybody’s invited! At least that’s how some A-listers feel after influencers began getting invites left and right. Let’s go back to the prestigious days of the Met Gala when true stars like the Kardashians lit up the carpet (/sarcasm).
This Year’s Met Gala Is Still Happening And Will Be Held In September
The Met Gala will return this year, like a golden fashion-phoenix from the germ-infested ashes of 2020 (see: above photo). Last year’s event (the theme was “time”) was obviously canceled cuz of the pandemic, and Billy Porter and Vogue’s at-home #MetGalaChallenge on Instagram just wasn’t the same. This year’s theme will be a celebration of American and American designers and will be co-hosted by poet Amanda Gorman and probably Tom Ford (he’s been approached). And no, that shit won’t be the first Monday in May like usual. The event’s been pushed to September 13, in the hopes that the world will be back to “normal” by then.
