The Couples Of The Met Gala, Including Shawn Mendes And Camila Cabello As A Wish.Com “Sonny And Cher”

The first Monday in May was moved to the second Monday in September, as the Met Gala, which benefits the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute, happened last night. The 2020 Met Gala was canceled because of our good friend Coronavirus, but this year’s Gathering Of Who’s Who And WHO?! was held last night and Anna Wintour is still planning another one for May 2022. But even though influencers and nobodies flooded the guestlist, some A-listers still showed up for the gala whose theme was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” And like always, most didn’t really dress in the theme or pulled the reach of reaches while trying to dress in the theme. Like Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes who brought Halloween to us a month early and showed up dressed like a low-budget Cher and a leather twink version of Sonny Bono.

This was Camila’s first Met Gala and she was obviously very excited about it. She was caught feeling herself during an interview with the event’s co-host Keke Palmer:

She looks like when a two-year-old slathers lipstick around their face and vibes in the mirror like they’re on Rupaul’s Drag Race. But while Camila was loving her bootleg Skipper doll in lazy Cher drag look, Shawn Mendes outdid her by looking like a Twink of Finland. Camila told Vogue that she tried to get Shawn to go shirtless on the red carpet. via E! News:

“I almost tried to get him to take that jacket off down there. I was like, “Take it off! Take it off!””

He didn’t so I guess his manager is renegotiating their relationship contract.

More couples at the Gala included Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber who went dressed in basic black. Emphasis on BASIC. Unclear the relation to the theme, but don’t worry Justin was sure to accessorize his basic black suit with a Drew-brand man-boy suitcase.

Brooklyn Beckham was also Team Basic Suit and his fiancé, nanny terrorizer turned actress Nicola Peltz went for a boring Prom Barbie look:

Kit Harrington shook things up with a white suit–shocking. And his wife, Rose Leslie, showed off the good old-fashioned American workplace staple of highlighters:

Adrien Brody attended with his current girlfriend, Georgina Chapman, who wore a sort of gold dress–maybe referencing all the Oscars which her sex offender ex-husband bought over the years?

Serena Williams went with her husband, Mr. Reddit, Alexis Ohanian:

Isn’t it sad that Shawn and Camila were actually the most interesting among this group of couples? Tragic.

Shawn Mendes told Vogue that he’s been “letting out my darker side,” when it comes to fashion. Saying that he “never really dug into this” before but now he feels freer to express himself with fashion. ….No comment, but whichever go-go boy Shawn mugged for his outfit needs to sue because now everyone is going to look like him at the next circuit party.
