Gal Gadot Knows That Her Celebrity “Imagine” Video Didn’t “Transcend”
Gal Gadot kicked off the coronavirus quarantine by getting her celebrity friends together to do that very ill-received cover of John Lennon‘s Imagine. It was pretty much unanimously hated and now Gal has spoken about the decision to inflict that tone-deaf act of narcissism upon us, saying her intentions were pure but conceding the video didn’t “transcend.” I don’t know, when I saw it for the first time I briefly lost consciousness so maybe I was transcending?
Gal Gadot Will Be Playing Cleopatra, So Naturally, Opinions Have Been Expressed
Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures has won the right to mount a probably cursed production of Cleopatra starring Gal Gadot with Wonder Woman’s Patty Jenkins directing. Patty and Gal will also be producers on the movie. Deadline says of Gal that “the film was her idea” which is crazy because I’m pretty sure it’s been done before. And of course, since Gal isn’t the actual mummified corpse of Cleopatra, people have expressed strong opinions online about her suitability for the role. Nevertheless, it turns out that the whole time Gal was singing Imagine, she wasn’t imagining a world free from disease and strife, she was imagining being The Queen of a world full of disease and strife. Side note: That Imagine video was posted on March 19th, DAY 6 of lockdown in California. It is now day 209. Carry on if you are able.

This year, because the coronavirus has forced studios to postpone releasing anything in the theaters, therefore cutting off back end bonuses, the top 10 is filled with TV stars with Modern Family‘s Sofia Vergara securing the #1 slot with a $43 million bag, almost half of what the highest-paid male actor, The Rock, earned. Silly woman, I guess she should have worked a little harder!

If you were hoping to kick off your summer by watching Gal Gadot strut around in some pattern-clashing leftovers from the L.A. Law storage unit sale, I have bad news for you. Your post-quarantine freedom won’t involve running off to the local multiplex and buying a $15 ticket to Wonder Woman 1984. I mean, that’s assuming AMC doesn’t fold and all locations turn into socially-distanced Spirit Halloween outlets. No, it’s not going to happen, because Warner Bros. has pushed the release of several movies, including Wonder Woman 1984.
Jamie Dornan Says Kristen Wiig Apologized For Asking Him To Do Gal Gadot’s “Imagine” Video
Not too long after most of North America went into self-isolation in an attempt to flatten the curve of COVID-19, Gal Gadot gathered some of her famous friends to “sing” John Lennon’s “Imagine” for us from the comfort of their own multi-million dollar homes. Gal probably hoped the video would unite us all, and it did – just not in the right way. We all came together and agreed it was a mess. Because being on the receiving end of “We’re all in this together!” vibes just isn’t the same when most of us aren’t self-isolating in an Olympic-sized heated saltwater infinity pool.
One of the singalong’s stars, Jamie Dornan, spoke about the video on an episode of the Tea with Me podcast (via The Mirror) this week and defended Gal by stressing that she really did have the best intentions at the time, saying “she was trying to do a good thing.” He then described how he got involved. Jamie recently worked on a film titled Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar. Kristen appears in Wonder Woman 1984 with Gal. Jamie is clearly a big Target Lady fan, because when Kristen (who was asked by Gal) to film a little clip of his karaoke skills, he immediately said yes without thinking.
