Scarlett Johansson Is The World’s Highest Paid Actress For 2018
It’s that time of the year when the employees of Forbes magazine pull out their calculators and make us all feel poor. As you already know, this year the crown has been taken off the head of Emma Stone and placed onto that of Scarlett Johansson.
Last year, Emma Stone made the number one spot of the World’s Highest-Paid Actresses by making $26 million. The year before, Jennifer Lawrence held the top spot with $46 million. We’re back up into the $40 millions again, thanks to Scarlett Johansson and whichever smart agent convinced her to slip into leather for Marvel. According to Forbes, Scarlett made more money than any other actress in the world this year, with 40.5 million pre-taxed money to her name. Most of her money came from her role as Black Widow in Avengers: Infinity War (which was released in April and made over $2 billion worldwide).
She’ll appear in another Avengers movie in 2019, the still-untitled Avengers 4. So we’ll see her back on this list again next year. And while $40.5 million is more money than most of us will see in our lifetime, it’s worth it to note that it’s $27.5 million less than what last year’s World’s Highest-Paid Actor Mark Wahlberg made. I know Marky Mark is the definition of overpaid, but the salary difference between talking to a CGI gem-stealer and CGI alien robots is just a little ridiculous.
Here’s the top ten of the world’s highest-paid actresses. Big shout out to Jennifer Aniston, who got the number 3 spot on a list of highest-paid actresses just from commercials (she earned $19.5 million from endorsements like Aveeno and Smartwater).

There’s one actress on that list who probably isn’t too thrilled to be there, and of course I’m talking about ScarJo’s money runner-up, Angelina Jolie. According to Forbes, the majority of her $28 million came from her paycheck for Maleficent 2. Now just how is Angelina supposed to act like money is tight when she’s #2 on that list? Forbes is going to get such a nasty phone call about this. On the bright side, when they hang up, they’ll find a Thank You gift basket waiting at the reception desk from Brad Pitt’s lawyers.
