As Michael K wrote a few days ago, Kim Kardashian hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time. Kim had a challenging task ahead of her: trying to remember what day and time the show aired. No! It was to tell the jokes that were written for her with enough success that people wouldn’t be writing the next day about how Kim bombed as a host. But while some found Kim boring, and others were mildly amused by watching Kim read cue cards, some were offended. Kim referenced OJ Simpson for laughs in two separate sketches, which didn’t sit well with the late Nicole Brown Simpson’s sister Tanya Brown.

Lorne Michaels is definitely breathing out a million sighs of relief today because his reign as the overlord of Saturday Night Live will continue for another 1,000 years now that he’s given Satan the gift of giving Hell’s most terrifying kreations, the Kardashians, a big platform. As expected, Kim Kardashian followed in the footsteps of her fellow comedic icons (like Paris Hilton, Trump, Nancy Kerrigan, Rudy Ghouliani, Elon Musk, and Lance Armstrong) and hosted SNL last night. We did learn last night that Kim Kardashian can actually read words! But then again, her cue cards were probably written with emojis.

A few months ago, it was rumored that five major cast members were done with Saturday Night Live, and wouldn’t be returning for the show’s upcoming 47th season. Those five cast members included: Pete Davidson, Cecily Strong, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, and Kenan Thompson wouldn’t be back. All of them had moments in the season 46 finale that kind of made it seem like they were saying goodbye. But the internet gossips were wrong. As it turns out, SNL will be losing Beck Bennett instead. Pete, start lifting weights and guzzling protein shakes – someone needs to pick up the shirtless slack left vacant by Beck’s absence.

It was a bit of an odd choice, as Emily pointed out yesterday, due to the fact that usually when a person agrees to host SNL, it’s because they have a project they need to promote, like a movie or a new season of a television show. Kim Kardashian has…well, let’s see here. What reason does Kim have to be hosting a live sketch comedy show? That’s the question Debra Messing wondered out loud upon hearing of Kim’s hosting job.
