Alanis Morissette Says She Won’t Support The “Salacious” New HBO Documentary About “Jagged Little Pill”
There’s a new HBO documentary about Alanis Morissette’s iconic 1995 album Jagged Little Pill, AKA Fuck You, Uncle Joey! The Alison Klayman-directed feature Jagged debuted last night at the Toronto International Film Festival, and while Alanis agreed to be interviewed for the movie, she didn’t attend the premiere. On Monday, the director told Deadline that it would be great if Alanis could be there, “but I’m so grateful for all the time that she did put into making this film.”
Now Alanis is elaborating to Deadline on why she didn’t show up. She claims the filmmakers had their own “salacious agenda,” they interviewed her during a “very vulnerable time” (she was dealing with her third round of postpartum depression during the pandemic), and the doc includes “implications and facts that are simply not true.” Alanis says she won’t be supporting the film. Ooo, she’s pissed. Maybe so pissed that she’ll write an angsty album about the experience? Alanistans can only hope!
Kate Winslet Says There May Be A Second Season Of “Mare Of Easttown”
Kate Winslet is nominated for an Emmy for her lead role in Mare of Easttown, so she sat down for an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Kate proceeded to reveal the names of the four closeted actors she knows that Brad Ingelsby, the show’s creator, has “some very cool ideas” for a potential second season, which has been hinted at before. Initially, HBO was promoting Mare of Easttown as a one-off limited series, and that’s the Emmy category all 16 of its nominations are in. But it looks like they’ll pull a Big Little Lies and try to milk some more cashola outta the story. Hopefully, that shit’s better than Big Little Lies’ sophomore season. Open Post: Hosted By The Trailer For “The Sopranos” Prequel
The Sopranos prequel film, The Many Saints of Newark, has dropped its official trailer. Finally! A piece of pop culture I actually care about! The new movie, which will be released in theatres and HBO Max on October 1, was directed by Alan Taylor and written by Sopranos creator David Chase and Lawrence Konner. It’s set in 1967 during the Newark race riots and stars the late, great James Gandolfini’s son, Michael Gandolfini, as a teenage Tony Soprano, who shows a lotta potential (although he never had the makings of a varsity athlete), but gets led down the wrong path by his uncle Dickie Moltisanti (Christopha’s daddy), played by Alessandro Nivola. The trailer features a lot of beatdowns, guns, explosions, vintage cars, bellbottoms, go-go boots, menacing low-angle shots, and the return of Satriale’s. I’m in!
Monica Lewinsky Made An Intern Joke About That HBO Max Email Eff Up, And Some People Didn’t Like It
Last Thursday HBO Max subscribers received an empty email with the subject: “Integration Test Email”, and a single-sentence message that read, “This template is used by integration tests only.” Huh? Soon the HBO Max Help account tweeted out an apology, explaining that an intern had done a whoopsies. Obviously, Twitter had a chuckle, and soon “Dear Intern” was trending; people shared their own intern fuck ups from back in their day and gave advice to the poor HBO Max intern (and all current interns, really). It was kinda sweet.
But who’s the most famous former intern of all time? THEE Monica Lewinsky. She tweeted, “dear intern: it gets better. <3 ps. don’t wear a beret for awhile, k?” Rather than be amused by the tweet or press the ‘like’ button, or, I dunno, ignore it, a bunch of people accused Monica of dredging up the past, roping Hillary Clinton into the conversation, and making herself out to be the victim. Really, Twitter?

It’s no secret that Warner Bros. choice to dump their entire slate of 2021 film releases onto HBO Max went over like a mouse turd in a bag of movie theater popcorn. Some industry people hate the idea that Warner Bros. will release all of their 2021 films in theaters and on HBO Max at the same time. One of the movies to get the HBO Max boot is Denis Villeneuve’s remake of Dune, and Denis has thoughts about it.

We recently learned that if you want to see Warner Bros. remake of Dune, you won’t need to mask up like Dune remake star Timothée Chalamet up there, because it’s dropping on HBO Max in 2021, along with 16 other films that were slated for release in theaters. Warner Bros. spent most of the summer and fall shuffling their release schedule and pushing dates farther and farther down the calendar until they realized we have no idea when movie theaters will be fun again because of coronavirus. That’s when they decided to just go ahead and schedule its entire 17 picture slate of 2021 releases for both theater releases and direct-to-streaming on HBO Max. Well, guess what? That choice has really pissed off some movie-making types, like Tenet director Christopher Nolan.
