Kesha And Dr. Luke Have Settled Their Nearly Decade-Long Lawsuit The Month Before It Was Set To Go To Trial
Kesha and Dr. Luke have been battling it out in the courts for years. In 2014, Kesha publicly accused the music producer of drugging and raping her and filed a civil suit against him. Dr. Luke clapped back with his own lawsuit, accusing Kesha of fabricating allegations against him to get out of her recording contract. He was seeking over $50 million in damages. Luke’s defamation case was finally set to go to trial next month, but today, we learned that it’s over before it even began.
Pop Crush reports that Dr. Luke dropped his defamation lawsuit against Kesha, and both parties released a joint statement. 36-year-old Kesha writes, “Only God knows what happened that night,” and “As I have always said, I cannot recount everything that happened.” Well, if she was roofied, of course, she doesn’t remember what happened. 49-year-old Dr. Luke writes that he appreciates Kesha “acknowledging that she cannot recount what happened” and once again denies drugging or assaulting her.
When the Recording Academy announced the nominations for the 63rd annual Grammy Awards last month, there were a few names that made me think, “Huh, they must be new.” Like the producer of Doja Cat’s hit song “Say So,” which was nominated for Song of the Year. It was produced by an artist named Tyson Trax, which sounds like the alias of someone too embarrassed to use their real name when producing Kidz Bop albums. As it turns out, Tyson Trax is an alias of Dr. Luke’s That really didn’t sit well with Fiona Apple.
Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald has won a legal battle against Kesha. Not-A-Real-Doctor Luke is going after Kesha for a variety of things related to her rape accusations against him. Well, a judge has ruled that Kesha did defame Dr. Luke when she accused him of raping Katy Perry, which Katy Perry denied, in text messages to Lady Gaga, and now she has to fork over more than $300,000 to him.
Back in 2014, everyone who saw Katy Perry’s video for Dark Horse probably thought the worst choices she made was to dress up like an Egyptian woman (which was followed very closely by the choice to throw a grill in her mouth). As it turns out, Katy Perry’s bad Dark Horse decisions began long before she put on a Cher wig.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that after a week-long trial, a jury in California has decided that Katy Perry and Dr. Luke plagiarized parts of Dark Horse from a Christian rapper from St. Louis named Flame.
Well, it looks like Taylor Swift‘s invitation writing hand is sore today after furiously crossing Lady Gaga‘s name off the guest list to her annual Fourth of July / Katy Perry is a Big Fatty Meanie Party. After old texts between Kesha and Gaga were released as part of the Dr. Luke investigation shit show, Gaga is taking back what she said about Katy.
Olive branch be damned – Lady Gaga and Kesha just earned themselves a massive “TOLD YA SO!” bouquet of roses from Taylor Swift. In the ongoing Dr. Luke saga of him being a general asshole and alleged abuser to Kesha, Gaga forked over any relevant evidence in his defamation case against Kesha. The evidence included texts between Kesha and Gaga about the case. The texts were previously blacked out, but the uncensored ones were made public and in them, Gaga and Kesha take a major swipe at Katy Perry and what sounds like her nonexistent backbone.
