“Top Gun: Maverick” Has Made $1 Billion Worldwide
After just 31 days in theaters, Top Gun: Maverick has passed $1 billion in worldwide ticket sales. That’s $521.7 million in America and $484.7 million from the international box office. According to Deadline, the new Top Gun is only the second movie of the “pandemic era” (blegh) to achieve this feat. The first was Spider-Man: No Way Home. It’s also the first time any of Tom Cruise’s movies have hit the billion-dollar mark. Let’s just hope he didn’t pay the film’s editor to slip in any subliminal messages about how awesome Scientology is, or we’re all fucked. Continue reading
Simon Pegg Would Like To Clarify His Comments About How Tom Cruise Never Apologizes
Simon Pegg and Tom Cruise first got friendly with each other while making 2006’s Mission: Impossible III, and Simon has been in every M:I movie since, and I guess their friendship is strong enough for The Times of London to title their interview with Simon, Simon Pegg: my addiction, midlife crisis – and Tom Cruise bromance. Never Mind that David Miscavige is probably screeching his Thetans off in anger over that “bromance” line, the tidbit that got the most attention from Simon’s interview is the part where Simon said that Tommy never ever apologizes. This is not news to any Scientology minion who has probably had to say, “You’re right, all-knowing Tom, the sky isn’t blue, you are six foot two without heels, and Shelly Miscavige is 100% fine.” But that nugget made Simon Pegg trend on Twitter, and because, I guess, Simon really doesn’t want to feel the wrath of the intergalactic Henery Hawk, he has popped up to say that it’s just a running joke between them, you idiots!
Meghan McCain Called The Success Of “Top Gun: Maverick” A Wake Up Call For “Woke” Hollywood
Self-styled “America’s Daughter” Meghan McCain is using her column in the very British The Daily Mail to try her hand at film criticism. This week she extolled the virtues of Top Gun: Maverick, calling it “a celebration of the American military and America in general,” that’s not “overly political.” You see, Meghan loved Top Gun 2: Chemtrail of Tears so damn much because she is “sick of having politics infiltrate [her] entertainment.” Although she does concede that “art is political, it always has been,” she says the answer to Hollywood’s “go woke, go broke” curse is to make more movies that are “unabashedly pro-America and pro-military.” Look, her arguments make about as much sense as The Daily Mail letting her post her own stories online without any editorial oversight or copy-editing.
Tom Cruise Says He Doesn’t Really Take Days Off And Is Only “Chillin” When He’s Doing Movie Promo
In the News That Will Surprise Nobody section, Tom Cruise claims he has no chill and is constantly working. “DUH!” said everyone who thinks Tom Cruise is a Scientology-made robot who runs on burning Thetans. We knew!
Open Post: Hosted By James Corden Doing “Top Gun” Flight Stunts With Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise is a man of many talents: he acts, he does his own stunts, he manifest his own zits, he can go a decade without seeing his daughter, and he flies planes. Like, those fast Top Gun planes. Because Tom was in Top Gun. In case you hadn’t heard, there’s a new Top Gun movie out and Paramount Pictures is hell bent on reminding us that Tom Cruise is a totally unproblematic movie star badass. So, on last night’s episode of The Late Late Show, Tom took James Corden to Top Gun training school and flew him around in fighter jets. Obviously, the sexual tension was off the charts.
Tom Cruise Believes He’s The Gene Kelly Of Action Films
Tom Cruise is currently out there promoting his latest cinematic adrenaline-jacked masterpiece, Top Gun: Maverick. And his latest stop has been in Cannes, at the Cannes Film Festival. And Tom Cruise himself would like you to know that he’s not just some guy who spends 120 minutes running away from stuff or jumping onto things or while you shove handfuls of greasy popcorn in your mouths. He’s THE guy to do all of that. According to Tom Cruise, his face is up there in the pantheon of top-of-their-game icons like Gene Kelly.
