The First Reactions For “Avatar: The Way Of Water” Are Overwhelmingly Positive
I hate reporting bad news. I really do. I know sometimes it may seem like I take joy in the suffering of others, but only when they deserve it. I am not a monster. And when the suffering is my own, or that of you, gentle reader, it causes me great pain and emotional distress. Earlier this year, and the three years preceding, I reported on the development of Top Gun 2: Maverick, a movie I was sure would be a flop. Reader— it was no flop. Top Gun 2: OT8 And Lovin’ It went on to become the 5th highest-grossing movie of all time, netting its star, Tom Cruise, more than $100 million earth credits to spend at any Scientology center of his choosing. And so I come now to you, humbled and dispirited, to report that James Cameron’s entry into the pantheon of Sequels to Movies Old Enough to Vote (in middle school elections in this case), Avatar: The Way of Water, is being heralded as “moviemaking & storytelling at its absolute finest,” and Guillermo del Toro has called James a “master at the peak of his power.”
Rihanna And A$AP Rocky Had A Rave-Themed Baby Shower, And Cops Searched His House And Found Guns
So, there’s fun news and not-so-fun news out of Camp Rihanna and A$AP Rocky. Let’s start with the fun: the couple hosted an intimate rave-themed baby shower in Hollywood last Friday. Now for the not-so-fun: TMZ reports that cops searched A$AP Rocky’s home in connection to his recent arrest, and they found multiple guns. Detectives will run ballistic tests on the weapons to see if any of them are connected to the alleged shooting incident back in November, but TMZ is already reporting that sources close to Rocky quickly determined that the “lawfully purchased and legally registered” weapons aren’t connected at all. Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” Is Getting Rave Reviews
Somebody please check on Lady Gaga because the critics are finally shouting A STAR IS BORN and it’s not because they just now got around to watching their screeners from three years ago. They are talking about Rachel Zegler who makes her big-screen debut as Maria in Steven Spielberg and Tony Kushner’s remake of West Side Story which in early reviews is being heralded as “phenomenal” and a “triumph,” with outstanding performances by Rachel, Ariana DeBose as Anita and David Alvarez as Bernardo, that Ansel Elgort is also in. Finally, Martin Scorsese can stop asking who he has to blow to get some CINEMA up in this bitch! Turns out it was his old pal Spielberg all along.
