Drew Barrymore Backs Out From Hosting The MTV Movie & TV Awards In Solidarity With The Writers’ Strike

May 5, 2023 / Posted by:

Two things: the MTV Movie & TV Awards still happen. And Drew Barrymore was set to host the 30th (!!!) MTV Movie & TV Awards this Sunday, but not anymore. Drew has dropped out last minute in support of the Writers Guild of America’s strike. A win for Hollywood writers everywhere! But a loss for people hoping to see Drew Barrymore kick off her shoes and get cross-legged comfy on a couch before cozying up to the popcorn award to get deep.

Mike Richards Will Stay On As “Jeopardy!” Executive Producer And Has To Undergo Sensitivity Training

August 26, 2021 / Posted by:

One week after Mike Richards “stepped down” as the new host for Jeopardy!, Sony Pictures Entertainment confirmed that the disgraced former podcaster will stay on as the show’s executive producer. So too problematic to host the show, but not too problematic to be the boss in charge of everything. Got it! Apparently, Sony’s top TV executive, Ravi Ahuja, called Jeopardy! staff on Monday and made it clear that the studio still supports Mike. The New York Times calls Sony’s decision “a show of defiance that has baffled Hollywood.” Yep. Truly baffling that a schmoozy middle-aged white dude is given yet another chance. That’s literally never happened before in the history of show biz.

Producers Reportedly Want Pat Sajak To Leave “Wheel Of Fortune” Because He’s Getting Crankier Than Usual

March 29, 2021 / Posted by:

Pat Sajak has been hosting Wheel of Fortune for so long (since 1983) that he could probably do it in his sleep and I’m guessing most viewers wouldn’t notice the difference if he got himself some of those sunglasses with open eyes painted on the lenses. However, sources behind the scenes say that Pat is starting to fuck it up and hasn’t been the same since he was on leave after he had emergency surgery to correct a blocked intestine. According to Popculture.com, producers are ready to ask Pat to consider retiring because his trademark “sarcasm” is starting to wear a little thin.

Former “Jeopardy!” Contestants Tried To Stop Dr. Oz From Being A Guest Host

March 23, 2021 / Posted by:

Since Alex Trebek left us for the big board in the sky (I like to picture him up there with an ambrosia-tini in his hand, leaning over St. Peter’s shoulder at the podium trying to see who all else is on the list) Jeopardy! has enlisted a string of guest hosts including Bean Dad apologizer Ken Jennings, hairy armpit licker Aaron Rodgers, semi-professional complainer Mayim Bialik, and Katie Couric, who knows what she did. But when the producers of Jeopardy! announced charlatan quack Dr. Oz would be taking a turn at Alex’s podium, the people put their foot down and said HELL TO THE NO. In a post on Medium, over 500 past contestants signed an open letter to producers calling the move “a slap in the face to all involved.” That’s gotta sting. Maybe Dr. Oz should try some of that hydroxychloroquine he was touting on Fox & Friends for that burn.

The Oscars Are Right Around The Corner And They Still Don’t Have A Host

January 3, 2019 / Posted by:

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has yet to find anybody pristine enough to host their little awards show and it’s getting down to the wire. According to The Hollywood Reporter, there have only been 2 times in Oscar history where there hasn’t been a host in place by January 1. Jon Stewart was announced as host on January 5, 2006 and Whoopi Goldberg‘s 4th time hosting the show was announced on January 7, 2002. So there’s still a few days left before a new record is set, but as Kevin Hart proved, even if they pick someone today there’s still the chance that our network of citizen detectives will find out that, say Tom Hanks, once ate a baby on a dare. Then they’d be out a host and we’d never get to see Bosom Buddies rebooted for Netflix.

Kevin Hart Has Stepped Down As Host Of The Oscars After A Series Of Unfortunate Apologies

December 7, 2018 / Posted by:

Kevin Hart ignored the Hollywood Golden Rule which dictates that you always talk to your publicist first before responding to any controversy. As a result, he’s no longer going to be hosting this year’s Academy Awards. Just days after landing the gig The Hollywood Reporter claimed nobody wanted, the internet unearthed a number of homophobic tweets he posted in 2009 and 2010. And so while Kevin was sleeping (presumably in a well appointed twin bed), Twitter became a buzz with critics calling for his replacement as host. His initial response, only made things worse. Then The Academy gave him an ultimatum, apologize or they’d find someone else to host. His secondary response, only made things worser.
