They’re following up a Kardashian with someone who somehow is simultaneously both more and less qualified to actually educate the students. One Anna Delvey–AKA Anna Sorokin, the scammer who went to jail for swindling New Yorkers by pretending to be a rich German heiress. On the one hand, scamming is absolutely an art, so Anna has lots to teach. However, she did get caught. How about a lesson from a scammer who didn’t?

Anna Sorokin, AKA Anna Delvey–the Russian-born scammer who pretended to be a German heiress to swindle millions of dollars from rich and not-so-rich New Yorkers–celebrated her 32nd birthday while still under house arrest and, according to sources, the party was a great time and featured all the New York glitterati, who handed over signed NDAs and maybe even their social security numbers to Anna upon entry.

Anna “Anna Delvey” Sorokin–the faux-German (actually Russian), faux-trust fund baby who scammed several businesses and rich New Yorkers out of money under the guise of paying them back once she opened a social club she was going to call “The Anna Delvey Foundation”–served out her jail sentence after she was convicted of not being rich enough to be allowed to fuck other people out of their money, and eventually ended up being detained again as she tried to fight with ICE about being deported. But, everyone hold on to your wallets; Anna has been set free, but with a sentence that is probably worse than death to a superficial social climber like her: she has to stay in her house and has been banned from using all forms of social media as a condition of her release.

Now that enough time has passed from the launch of the hit Netflix Inventing Anna, people have been wondering what’s become of Anna Sorokin a.k.a. Anna Delvey a.k.a. the fake heiress who stole a bunch of rich people’s money. Has she finally seen the folly of her ways and become an upstanding citizen? I’m sorry to inform you that she has surely not. After being sentenced for stealing from the rich (the greatest crime you can commit in America), Anna has been holed up in various prisons since 2019. When you’re incarcerated, you’ve got a lot of time on your hands. Some inmates take up reading or exercise. But Anna? She’s started her own law firm! I guess being embroiled in a high-profile court case is enough experience for becoming an attorney!
Anna Sorokin Hasn’t Been Deported To Germany Just Yet
Just yesterday, we learned that Anna Sorokin, aka the fake German heiress who scammed people with a bogus tale of investing in a Manhattan social club, was missing in action. Which is to say, nobody really knew where she was, and even her lawyer was throwing up shrugs. So the general consensus was that Anna must have finally been released from ICE custody and was deported back to Germany. Better take back that “Auf Wiedersehen, Scamma,” because it sounds like Anna Sorokin hasn’t been deported yet.

Netflix’s Inventing Anna is all about how Anna “Delvey” Sorokin pretended to be a German heiress and fooled a bunch of powerful people, banks, and others into thinking she had a $60 million trust fund and was going to open a huge Manhattan social club. That obviously didn’t happen, and what did happen was she scammed her friends, banks, and luxury hotels. Anna ended up in prison over it and then found herself in ICE custody. Now her lawyer says he can’t get in touch with her and believes that she’s in the process of being deported. Or maybe she just escaped ICE detention by slipping out an air vent? Maybe Anna is an escape artist as well as a scam artist? Probably not, though.
