Alec Baldwin And “Rust” Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed Will Be Charged With Involuntarily Manslaughter For The Shooting Death Of Halyna Hutchins
If you tried to open Instagram just now, it probably shook before shutting down out of fear that it’s about to get hit with a giant wave of smug rage from Alec Baldwin releasing five hundred screamy videos at once. Because prosecutors in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, announced today that Alec Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez–Reed should be held responsible for the accidental shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust in October 2021. Halyna was only 42 years old and tragically left behind a 9-year-old son. Rust‘s director Joel Souza was also shot but survived and recovered from his injuries. Both Alec and Hannah will be charged with involuntary manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter in the commission of a lawful act.
The FBI Says That The Gun In The “Rust” Shooting Could Not Have Gone Off By Itself And The Trigger Was Pulled
Well, the FBI should prepare for several voicemails from an extra ragey-voiced Alec Baldwin where he reams them a new one as Hilaria Baldwin spews out several Spanish curse words in the background (while reading off of a list of Spanish curse words she Googled just seconds before). Because according to ABC News, the FBI’s investigation into the Rust shooting has wrapped up and they’ve concluded that the gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, and injured director Joel Souza, did not go off by itself and the trigger was pulled. This is despite Alec Baldwin claiming that he never ever pulled the trigger.
Authorities Just Need To Review Alec Baldwin’s Phone Records Before Wrapping Up Their Investigation And Handing It Over To The DA
Alec Baldwin may have forgotten he shot and killed someone ten months ago, but the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s department has not. As they attempt to wrap up their investigation into the on-set shooting death of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, Alec, who was holding the gun when he/it fired a bullet that killed Halyna and injured the film’s director Joel Souza, is still on top of their most wanted list. The only most wanted list Alec is likely to find himself on outside of wife Hilaria Baldwin’s list of dream baby daddies which alarmingly is just Alec’s name a bunch of times into infinity. Deadline reports that “the police investigation into what happened remains ongoing but is a bit closer to completion,” and one of the last pieces of evidence needed before handing the case off to the Santa Fe District Attorney for possible charges, is Alec’s phone records which he very reluctantly handed over to the Suffix County, New York police in January.
The Los Angeles Times says that it’s been over three weeks since New Mexico investigators got a warrant to search Alec Baldwin’s cell phone for information that will help them with their investigation into the October accidental shooting on the set of Rust that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza. During his Christopher Guest-like impromptu roadside press conference with the paps, Alec, who was also a producer on Rust, said that he’s fully cooperating with authorities and that he has to keep his lips shut since the investigation is still open. But Alec has been talking away, and now The L.A. Times says that he hasn’t handed over his phone to Santa Fe detectives yet and so they had to ask authorities in New York, where Alec lives, for help. But in Alec’s defense, how can he hand over his cell phone when he’s too busy using it to tell his side again?! Case in point: Alec used his phone to record an Instagram video where he shit all over the claims that he’s not cooperating with the investigation.
The accidental shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the New Mexico set of Rust happened a little over a month ago, and since then, Alec Baldwin, who was holding the gun, has talked about it several times including Thursday night’s interview on ABC News with George Stephanopolous, and a cringe-inducing roadside talk with the paps where he awkwardly told his wife Hilaria Baldwin to shush. Well, the Santa Fe DA is now the Alec Baldwin to Alec’s Hilaria, because they’re telling him in so many words to shush. After Alec’s interview aired, the Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said that nobody involved in the tragedy has been cleared, and sources tell Deadline that the Santa Fe Sherrif’s Office felt betrayed by the interview since they previously made it clear to him that it’s an open investigation and to keep his lips shut to the media.
As teased yesterday, Alec Baldwin sat down with ABC News and George Stephanopoulos for his first one-on-one interview about the horrific death on the New Mexico set of the western film Rust, in which the gun he was allegedly just holding went off, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. What we gathered from the promo released yesterday was Alec claiming he never fired the gun (that it simply went off in his hand), that he had no idea how a live round made its way into the antique firearm, and that it was the worst day of his life. There’s more, including Alec’s choice to talk about this situation, rather than wait and save it for court, and that he doesn’t feel any guilt for what happened, because he believes it’s someone’s fault, just not his.
