The Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department Has Obtained A Search Warrant For Alec Baldwin’s Cell Phone

I don’t know how you accidentally shoot someone then turn around and make things a million times worse for yourself by marinating in a toxic stew of victimhood and hubris spiced with a steady stream of diarrhea of the mouth. But that’s Alec Baldwin for you. In his initial statements to the media following the accidental shooting death of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, which also resulted in the film’s director Joel Souza being shot in the shoulder, Alec assured us via Twitter that he was “fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred.” Apparently though, turning over his cell phone to police when asked was a bridge too far. Now a judge has taken that decision out of Alec’s hands and granted a search warrant for his phone and some poor sap has to sift through thousands of messages from Hilaria Baldwin asking him to pick up a baby on his way home.

According to CNN, a search warrant was signed yesterday that would allow authorities to search for “messages, call logs, digital photos and videos, as well as any private messages sent on social media platforms,” as well as “any deleted videos, photos and messages on the phone that have to do with the movie.” Alec’s attorney says they asked for authorities to produce a warrant “proactively” so they could take steps to “protect Mr. Baldwin’s family and personal information that is clearly unrelated to the investigation.” CNN reports:

A judge on Thursday signed the warrant which states that Baldwin, along with his attorney, were asked to turn over the phone, and the detective was told to “acquire a warrant.”

Officials are looking to obtain messages, call logs, digital photos and videos, as well as any private messages sent on social media platforms in relation to the production of “Rust,” the warrant said. It also looks to obtain any deleted videos, photos and messages on the phone that have to do with the movie.

TMZ adds that, as detailed in the warrant, Alec had told investigators about email communication between him and Rust armorer Hannah Reed-Gutierrez in which they discussed the weapons that might be used in the production and in which Alec reportedly asked Hannah for a bigger gun.

According to docs, obtained by TMZ, Alec told investigators about emails between head armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed and himself, in which she showed him different styles of guns and knives for the film. He says he requested a bigger gun, and she showed him an antique Colt.

That may sound like a relatively minor detail but the suggestion has inflamed Alec to his very core. Both Alec and Hilaria deactivated their Twitter accounts shortly after Alec’s ABC interview but yesterday, Alec fired his back up again to say the report is “a lie.” According to The Daily Mail:

Alec Baldwin has denied that he requested a larger Colt gun before the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust in a tweet today, sent after Sante Fe sheriffs in New Mexico issued a search warrant for his iPhone.

The 63-year-old actor tweeted an article from Newsweek which claimed that he had requested a bigger gun before the accidental shooting.

‘This, in fact is a lie,’ Baldwin wrote over the article link.

‘The choices regarding any props by me for the film RUST were made weeks before production began. To suggest that any changes were made “before fatal shooting” is false,’ he added.

I don’t know what Alec thinks this will accomplish but it’s giving self-important narcissist. Which is great when you’re doing Donald Trump drag, but not so great when you’re under investigation for a possible crime in which a woman lost her life. And it would be downright cruel of me not to include an update on how Hilaria is doing with all this. Well, she’s actually doing great and recently posted a lengthy video message to her fans about how to avoid getting their feelings hurt by “online bullies.

She’s giving back, one “I” at a time. And, just to make things extra fun, this video she posted last week of her and Alec being approached by a reporter was taken as the two were leaving Alec’s dear friend Woody Allen‘s house, via The Daily Mail:

So yeah, neat! While Alec’s attorney may not be able to keep Alec or Hilaria from popping off, the least they can do is try to redirect attention away from Alec’s personal life by focusing on the Phantom Bullet. (via CNN)

“We are confident that the evidence will show that Mr. Baldwin is not responsible civilly or criminally for what occurred on October 21, and he continues to cooperate with authorities,”

“A phone contains a person’s entire life, and personal information needs to be protected. While they evaluate the phone information, we hope that the authorities continue to focus on how the live rounds got on the set in the first place.”

How, indeed. TMZ adds that Hannah’s team is still all the way in with their original sabotage theory stating “as time has gone on and our investigation continues to uncover suspicious and troubling facts pointing to sabotage.” In other words, she can’t stand it, she knows you planned it, she’s gonna set it straight, this Westerngate.
