Ellen DeGeneres Made Sure To Thank Her “Amazing” Staff While Accepting Her People’s Choice Award
In a twist that feels like it was cooked up by irony, Ellen DeGeneres won the 2020 People’s Choice Award for Best Talk Show, for Ellen, a show which has spent most of 2020 defending itself against allegations that it’s the worst talk show (behind the scenes, at least). The show was virtual, due to COVID-19, and I’m sure host Demi Lovato would have happily accepted the award on Ellen’s behalf if Ellen would have rather spent the evening relaxing in one of her many expensive temperature-controlled rich lady swimming pools. But Ellen clearly didn’t want to pass up the opportunity for some live televised damage control, because she showed up in person to collect her award, which she shares with her amazing, wonderful, spectacular, benevolent, forgiving, kind-hearted staff.
Because You Can Never Get Enough “Tiger King,” Here’s A Roundup Of Daytime TV’s Halloween Extravaganzas
It’s All Hallows Eve eve, and that means it’s time to see what magical and amazing Halloween costumes are possible when you have the budget of a major television network at your disposal and access to the best hair, costume and makeup professionals in the business before realizing that your mom and her 1970s Singer sewing machine did it better.
As usual, Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest went with a wide selection of trending Twitter topics for inspiration, serving up a plethora of 2020 pop-culture costumes. And also as usual, the folks at Today made a big, chaotic, and possibly demonic mess with a salute to Broadway. And Ellen DeGeneres, well she tried to play nice this year by dressing up as a nurse “inspired by the real superheroes of 2020,” but got her ass dragged for not going as the maybe more appropriate Nurse Ratchet instead. This is Halloween 2020, what did we expect?
The Ratings For The New And Improved “Ellen” Aren’t Doing So Well
There was a time that the ratings for Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime TV talk show were so high and robust, it seemed like she’d be swimming in syndication cash for the rest of her life. But that was before Ellen was exposed over and over for allegedly encouraging or ignoring (depending on who you ask) the workplace toxicity at her show. So Ellen had to revamp her image which meant frowning while reciting the apologetic monologue that was probably written for her. Some current and former employees reportedly didn’t want anything to do with Ellen’s sorry act. And according to some new viewership data, the viewers at home might not really be that interested in tuning in either.
Alec Baldwin Says His Wife Hilaria Baldwin Is A Baby Collector And That She Still Wants To Try For A Girl
Alec Baldwin recently went on The Ellen Degeneres Show – hey, where are you going? Come back! I need to tell you about how Alec told Ellen DeGeneres that his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, is a baby hoarder and wants to keep procreating until she has another girl, but if he has any say in the matter (which he should, since it’s his dick and all), she’s going to have to get a different husband. See, no assholes here. Just jokes and LOLs at the expense of the five children they already have together and Ireland Baldwin, who knows what she did.
Some Current And Former “Ellen” Employees Didn’t Buy Ellen DeGeneres’ TV Apology
Yesterday, Ellen DeGeneres was finally released from her multi-million dollar jail cell and returned to the Warner Bros. studio lot to film the 18th season of Ellen. But before Ellen could celebrate, she had to first execute an apology that would sound convincing enough to keep people from switching the channel to a Ninja blender infomercial. It was up to the viewer to look into Ellen’s eyes and determine whether she was really sorry, or just really fucking sorry she didn’t make Ellen employees take a blood oath to never speak ill of their leader. Well, BuzzFeed (basically Ellen’s unofficial Human Resources Department at this point) is reporting that they’ve spoken to some past and present Ellen employees, and those employees thought Ellen’s apology was faker than those potted white studio set orchids behind her.
Ellen DeGeneres Kicked Off The Season 18 Premiere Of “Ellen” With A Big Apology
It was touch and go for a second, but the Ellen show returned today for its 18th season (“touch and go” might also be used to describe the alleged work history of three of her former producers). Ellen DeGeneres booked it out of her studio in March, to quarantine at home, but she couldn’t isolate herself from all the allegations that she’s an awful, abusive boss who ran a terrible workplace. After some “will they/won’t they” regarding if the show would come back this fall at all, the 18th season of Ellen premiered today and as promised, Ellen addressed the whole situation.
