Open Post: Hosted By Frederic The Extremely Particular Kitty
BoingBoing reports that German cat photographer Nils Jacobi, aka @furryfritz, shared a disturbing TikTok of his ginger kitty, Frederic. In the video, poor Frederic stands in front of a bowl filled with tuna and looks up at his father expectantly as if to say, “Are you fuckin’ kidding me?” Sure, his bowl is full, but the tuna isn’t positioned properly! He can only eat it if it’s piled high! After eight truly excruciating seconds, neglectful Nils finally takes the hint, and fashions Frederic’s food into a pile with a spoon. Frederic immediately digs in, but he hasn’t forgotten his father’s failings. Especially after Nils added the shady caption: “Tell me your cat is spoiled without telling me your cat is spoiled.” Spoiled?! These are basic feline rights! Continue reading
Open Post: Hosted By The Stowaway Cat Who Was Found By TSA
With the holidays in full swing, it’s prime traveling season. Whether by plane, train, or automobile, people are packing the essentials for traveling to their families. Some pack gifts, some pack extra valium, and others inadvertently pack cats. This was stupidly the case last week when a cat named Smells (yes, Smells!) was found trapped inside luggage headed for Orlando, Florida. We are all aware that cats can squeeze into anything, but I would believe people are also aware that we shouldn’t stuff them into carry-on suitcases!
Open Post: Hosted By Flossie, The World’s Oldest Living Cat
Introducing Flossie, the current Guinness World Record-holder for the oldest living cat at 26 years and 316 days, to be precise. Flossie, who has since turned 27, was recently adopted by Vicki Green, who got her from Cats Protection, a British kitty charity. Cats Protection employee Naomi Rosling says she was “flabbergasted” when Flossie’s vet records revealed she was almost 27. Vicki says she knew Flossie was special but had no clue she’d be sharing her home with world record holder. Suuure. Vicki probably scoured the Internet looking for the oldest cat possible, all in a sick attempt to be a part of a Guinness World record. Sweetie, if you want a record that badly, go see Spider-Man 292 times in theaters like a normal person!
Open Post: Hosted By A Ukrainian Soldier’s Cat Checkpoint
Ukraine is still defending itself from Russia, yet despite the turmoil and uncertainty, the people continue to live their lives and enjoy the small things however they can. Case in point: a Ukrainian soldier has gone viral for his services to his cats and country. While presumably on duty, he realized that there was something missing at his post. And that something was a checkpoint for cats. The man took it upon himself to do some quick measurements and build a bona fide kitty checkpoint.
Open Post: Hosted By The Cat Who Hates Alarms
There’s nothing like lying in bed in a deep restful sleep, enjoying the wonderful comfort of your toasty duvet and pillow. In a terrible, now Leslie Jordan-less world (RIP), it’s one of the Lord’s few beautiful gifts. That is, until the alarm goes off. The alarm is one of the devil’s tools, a somewhat necessary evil that we must both tolerate and obey. But we’re not alone in our hatred of it. Members of the animal kingdom also share our distaste for loud interruptions. Case in point: a cat on TikTok was caught scrambling to turn off the phone when it went off, unable to take the obnoxious noise. Finally, an animal after my own heart!
Open Post: Hosted By The House Cat That Was Mistaken For A Mountain Lion
Take a look at the picture on the left. What do you see? A cute little house cat? Or a dangerous mountain lion (see: actual mountain lion on the right)? The Des Moines Police weren’t sure, but they put their money on “MOUNTAIN LION!” and warned the community about a cougar sighting caught by surveillance cameras. The video they posted to Facebook shows a cat ambling across a lawn. Soon, a great debate began in the comments. Was this a cougar or a kitty? One woman wrote that she had faith in what the cops said (awww, God bless), and the police replied that the Iowa Department of Natural Resources had confirmed that the mystery feline was a “young/small” mountain lion. But, a few hours later, they updated the post with a link to an article stating the obvious: it’s a house cat, ya dummies!
