Open Post: Hosted By The Cat Who Hates Alarms
There’s nothing like lying in bed in a deep restful sleep, enjoying the wonderful comfort of your toasty duvet and pillow. In a terrible, now Leslie Jordan-less world (RIP), it’s one of the Lord’s few beautiful gifts. That is, until the alarm goes off. The alarm is one of the devil’s tools, a somewhat necessary evil that we must both tolerate and obey. But we’re not alone in our hatred of it. Members of the animal kingdom also share our distaste for loud interruptions. Case in point: a cat on TikTok was caught scrambling to turn off the phone when it went off, unable to take the obnoxious noise. Finally, an animal after my own heart!
TikTok user Eyeveesoup decided to record her roommate’s cat after she heard that the feline was allegedly turning off alarms and loud sounds coming from the phone. The test was successful because this cat clearly has no time for “Old Phone” or “Default” ringtones!
@eyeveesoup she’s ✨quirky✨ #catsoftiktok #cats #catlover
As soon as the first few notes hit its ears, the poor pussy claws at the phone, successfully turning it off every time. The cat is much better than me at getting the alarm to stop. I blindly claw at my 7 am alarm as well, but always drop my phone onto the floor. Viewers identified with the cat’s struggle. Some reckoned that it was an office drone in a past life and the PTSD has carried over. Others wondered if their cats were the reason why they were missing their alarms (sure, Jan). While I feel for this cat, at least it didn’t live through the ringtone era. I will never recover from the million times I heard Crazy Frog or Crank That (Soulja Boy) on a tinny Motorola in the 2000s!
