Open Post: Hosted By The Mini “Romy And Michele” Reunion At The SAG Awards
Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion came out in 1997. And the titular high school reunion took place ten years after graduation, but it’s been 25 years since that movie was released and blessed us with a lifetime’s worth of quotes and looks, so it was high time these two got together for another reunion. And luckily for us, it happened at last night’s SAG Awards!
The 2022 SAG Awards Brought The Red Carpet Back To Awards Season
In this, our year of Fuck It, red carpets are back in full swing. You probably don’t remember last year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards since they were host-less, pre-taped and the nominees who bothered to dress up, did so from their backyards, on balconies, in front of white screens or, in Jared Leto’s case, standing on a bridge in what looks like Paris clutching a jewel-encrusted clam-shell looking like Fred from The Scooby Gang’s effete cousin who stopped eating carbs and tried to cover his Midwestern accent by pretending to be “European.” But this year, since COVID is but a mere memory, SAG busted out that dusty rug, hit it with a wet vac, and rolled that red carpet out so Jared could pose for the camera looking like Doc Holiday’s effete cousin who stopped eating carbs and tried to cover his Midwestern accent by pretending to be a 19th century “gentleman huckleberry farmer.”
Here Are The 2022 SAG Awards Winners, Including Helen Mirren Getting A Lifetime Achievement Award
The 28th annual Screen Actor Guild Awards happened last night at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA. There were some surprises and some cute moments during the show, like Helen Mirren getting the Lifetime Achievement Award. Lady Gaga might have cackled herself to sleep after Jessica Chastain nabbed herself Outstanding Actress for Eyes of Tammy Faye, so she may beat Kristen Stewart and Nicole Kidman at the Oscars. If Gaga can’t have it none of them can! Squid Game also took home some Outstanding Acting wins and basically dropped the Succession family on its ass during Tug of War. But that’s what happens when you nominate basically the whole cast of Succession for SAG Awards.
The 2022 SAG Nominations Are Out
The 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards announced their nominees this morning courtesy with help from Rosario Dawson and eugenics-fan, Vanessa Hudgens, who were both introduced by the new SAG-AFTRA president, Fran Drescher. The 28th Annual SAG Awards will air on TNT and TBS on February 27 and being nominated here is a big deal because last year the nominees of the SAG awards comprised 16 of the 20 acting nominees at the Oscars. And this is the trend, as they usually predict about half of the big Oscar categories. So I’m sorry to say, Lady Gaga‘s method-acting seems to be working, as she got herself a SAG nomination. And Kristen Stewart’s Princess Diana was shut out. Although, if you ask her, she probably doesn’t give a shit! Or so she says.
