Here Are The 2022 SAG Awards Winners, Including Helen Mirren Getting A Lifetime Achievement Award
The 28th annual Screen Actor Guild Awards happened last night at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA. There were some surprises and some cute moments during the show, like Helen Mirren getting the Lifetime Achievement Award. Lady Gaga might have cackled herself to sleep after Jessica Chastain nabbed herself Outstanding Actress for Eyes of Tammy Faye, so she may beat Kristen Stewart and Nicole Kidman at the Oscars. If Gaga can’t have it none of them can! Squid Game also took home some Outstanding Acting wins and basically dropped the Succession family on its ass during Tug of War. But that’s what happens when you nominate basically the whole cast of Succession for SAG Awards.
The Hollywood Reporter says that CODA made history nabbing wins for Outstanding Film Ensemble and Best Supporting Actor. It’s the first movie with a predominantly deaf cast to win such big awards, with Troy Kotsur beating out Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper, Jared Leto, and Kodi Smit-McPhee for Outstanding Supporting Actor. Marlee Matlin accepted the Outstanding Film Ensemble award for the cast of CODA:
Jason Sudeikis and Jean Smart doubled up on their respective Emmy wins from September by winning Outstanding Leading Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Leading Actress in a Comedy Series for Ted Lasso and Hacks. Ted Lasso also won Outstanding Comedy Series Ensemble. And Lee Jung-jae beat three of Succession‘s main dudes for Outstanding Leading Actor in a Drama Series, leaving Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, and Jeremy Strong in the dust, along with The Morning Show‘s Billy Crudup.
Jung Ho-yeon brought the raw emotion during her speech after winning Outstanding Leading Actress in a Drama Series:
Michael Keaton won Outstanding Male Actor in a TV Movie or Limited Series for his performance in Dopesick, and left presenter Salma Hayek waiting for his ass because he was in the bathroom. But during his speech, he brought up the “massive inequity in the world” and got emotional at the end while dedicating the award to his sister Pam, and his nephew Michael. Dopesick is about the opioid crisis in the United States and Michael’s nephew died of an accidental overdose.
Helen Mirren was given the Lifetime Achievement Award and wore an adorable pink outfit that could make Elle Woods jealous.
And Brian Cox gave an impassioned speech about the Russian invasion of Ukraine after Succession took home the win for Outstanding Drama Series Ensemble. Here’s his acceptance speech:
Notice that during the speech, his co-star, Dasha Nekrasova, really goes on an emotional journey equivalent to Winona Ryder‘s own SAG Awards facial expressions. Watch as Dasha quickly is forced to whiplash between excited and appropriately somber:

Tough being an actor when you have to win big and stay humble and simultaneously show support for a war-torn nation. But I think her face pulls it off!
