Duchess Kate Is Reportedly Trying To Salvage Prince William’s Relationship With Prince Harry

When it comes to Royal Family drama, there are a few somewhat unspoken elephants in the room (“But for the right price, I’ll tell you whatever you want to know about those elephants!” says Fergie, with her bank account money transfer information ready). One of the biggest sources of inter-family awkwardness comes courtesy of Prince William and Prince Harry, who basically – in regular commoner talk – hate each other’s aristocratic guts at the moment. But there is one person who is trying to make things right, or at least mildly tolerable, between the brothers, and according to UsWeekly, the person with the world’s most thankless task is Duchess Kate.

William hasn’t really said much about Harry, because William is more of a conceal, don’t feel type of guy, to quote the emotionally-stunted Elsa from Frozen. But Harry has spoken about his cold relationship with his older brother, and it’s pretty well known that the brothers are on the outs. Kate is just two royal death certificates away from becoming Queen one day, but until then, it would appear as though she’s chosen to keep busy with the title of Captain Save-A-Strained-Relationship. A source tells UsWeekly that Kate is doing all she can to try to heal the absolutely corroded feelings William and Harry share for each other.

“There’s a small glimpse of hope of saving the brothers from never speaking again: Kate,” the source tells Us of the Duchess of Cambridge, 40. “She can sense that despite everything that has happened, William still feels the loss of Harry.”

The bad news is, it sounds like Kate’s attempt at channeling her inner Dr. Phil and mediating this mess hasn’t revealed much in the result department just yet.

Kate, for her part, is “frantically trying to play peacemaker,” but so far her efforts have proved unsuccessful.

“[She] had a quiet word with the boys separately, even going as far as calling Harry in Montecito and suggesting that he reach out to William on his birthday,” the insider adds. “The issue is William and Harry are both overly stubborn, so there’s not much hope.”

To make matters worse, Kate has basically been working on this side project of hers since last year. Sources back in December claimed that Kate was so distraught at the uncomfortable situation with Harry and Meghan Markle, and that all Kate wanted was for everyone to join hands and just get along, as a choir of happy squirrels and birds sings “We Are Family” while a glittering rainbow materialized behind all of them. Sadly, that’s not going to happen right now. As you may recall, Harry and Meghan flew to the UK for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, but they didn’t hang out with William and Kate. The couples also didn’t sit near each other when they both attended a church service in The Queen’s honor, although UsWeekly’s source is happy to point out that’s because of logistics and not drama. Essentially, senior royals were sat together, and the rest filled out the church pews on the other side of the aisle.

Now that The Queen’s Jubilee is over and done with, it’s not known when Harry might be back in the UK. So Kate has lots of time to plan a sneaky The Parent Trap-style meet-up between the brothers, if she really wants those two to get together and work things out. I can see it now: William walks into an empty room in Kensington Palace, sees Harry, and says, “Wait a minute, this isn’t my three o’clock crown fitting!
