Although Beyoncé made history at the Grammys many believed she would finally win the coveted Album Of The Year award for her collection of dance spells titled Renaissance. Of course, Harry Styles got it. Now, I haven’t heard his album Harry’s House, but I doubt it’s Renaissance, and many people are shaking tables and sliding down walls in the aftermath of her loss. You can add Jay-Z to that list, who made a statement prior to her loss that hasn’t aged well. But I’m sure if you asked him now he would simply reply with “Fuck The Grammys!” like the rest of the Beyhive.
One of the things I hadn’t anticipated at this year’s Grammys was being reminded Chris Brown is still a brat who acts out when he doesn’t get his way. After he lost the Grammy for Best R&B Album to Robert Glasper Chris went on a tirade showcasing his own ignorance about who Robert is, and it made him look worse than he already does. So in the aftermath of his sour grapes soliloquy Chris reached out to Robert to apologize, but not without turning his rage to the Academy for putting them in the same category in the first place.
The Epic 50th Anniversary Of Hip Hop Grammys Tribute Was Supposed To Include Will Smith But He Dropped Out
After you reach a certain age the Grammys become a snoozefest with constant moments of “Who is that?” and “This shit ain’t over yet?” But for last night’s 65th annual ceremony, they injected a bit of cool into the festivities by holding a gigantic tribute to hip hop, which is celebrating its 50th birthday this year. And instead of having a white party or cabaret like most fifty years olds, the Grammys threw a star-studded tribute to wake the audience up. Many pioneers like Queen Latifah, LL Cool J, and Public Enemy rocked the mic right, but one throwback who was not in attendance was Will Smith. And no, it wasn’t because he doesn’t know how to keep his hands to himself. Will actually had a very valid reason for not being able to attend, and it’s 100% work-related.
Last night at the Grammys, everyone was waiting to see if Beyoncé would make history by becoming the artist with the most awards in its 65-year history. And if anyone thought that she wouldn’t they’re fools because we all know the Grammys are just a popularity contest at this point. Since there’s no one more popular than Beyoncé she flexed her star power by taking her time getting to the ceremony and completely missed her first award of the evening. But that’s probably because she was still at home practicing her looks of “shock and awe” for when she won the award that actually mattered.
The 2023 Grammy Award nominations came out today, and Beyoncé leads the pack with 9 nominations for her album, Renaissance. Kendrick Lamar follows closely behind with eight noms, and Adele and Brandi Carlile each snagged seven. With these latest nods, Beyoncé ties her husband Jay-Z as the most Grammy-nominated artist of all time: 88 nods in total. Fart out one more song in the next year, Bey, and your long con revenge plot against Jay’s cheating ass will finally be complete!
Nicki Minaj Went Off At The Grammys For Moving Her Song “Super Freaky Girl” Into The Pop Category, And Dragged Latto Into It
Another day, and yet another Nicki Minaj rant. Although, I think Nicki is now getting the benefit of having her rantings compared to Kanye West’s garbage, and she at least doesn’t veer into weird anti-Semitic conspiracies. This time, Nicki is pissed that the Recording Academy placed her song Super Freaky Girl in the Best Pop category for the 2023 Grammys, and of course, it’s a part of a nefarious backroom plan to keep Nicki down. The first part makes sense on its face because it is a rap song but who is this conspiratorial body that is against Nicki Minaj? And Nicki’s beef with the Grammys also turned into a beef with fellow rapper Latto after Nicki dragged her into it.
