Beyoncé Leads The Grammy Nominations, Followed By Kendrick Lamar, Adele, And Brandi Carlile

The 2023 Grammy Award nominations came out today, and Beyoncé leads the pack with 9 nominations for her album, Renaissance. Kendrick Lamar follows closely behind with eight noms, and Adele and Brandi Carlile each snagged seven. With these latest nods, Beyoncé ties her husband Jay-Z as the most Grammy-nominated artist of all time: 88 nods in total. Fart out one more song in the next year, Bey, and your long con revenge plot against Jay’s cheating ass will finally be complete!

When it comes to the Grammys, the Big Three categories are Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year. Beyoncé, Kendrick, Lizzo, and Harry Styles all got nominated in all three categories. Harry tied five other artists with six nods apiece: Mary J. Blige, DJ Khaled, Future, The-Dream, and mastering engineer Randy Merrill. Go Randy! ABBA and Coldplay also snagged a bunch of noms.

Over in the Best Comedy Album category, last year’s winner Louis CK snagged another nomination for his stand-up album, Sorry. Um, apology not accepted. Other nominees include transphobe Dave Chappelle, Patton Oswalt, Jim Gaffigan, and the only first-time nominee, Randy Rainbow. The Grammys: always on the cutting edge of the comedy biz.

Last month, Nicki Minaj took to Instagram to complain about the Recording Academy submitting her song, Super Freaky Girl, in the Best Pop category. She originally submitted as a rap song. Well, maybe Nicki was right (or maybe the Grammys just hate the song), because she didn’t receive any pop nominations. SNUBBED. Other snubbees, according to Billboard: Morgan Wallen (the racist country singer, not the guy from Super Size Me like I originally thought), country music in general (no country artists cracked the Big Four), Encanto (it got three noms, but not in any big categories), and Em Beihold, Dove Cameron, GAYLE, Tate McRae, and Lauren Spencer-Smith were all passed over for Best New Artist. Ya hear that, people I’ve never heard of? YER SNUBBED.
