Jay-Z Revealed Beyoncé Should Have Won The Grammy For Album Of The Year By Now

Although Beyoncé made history at the Grammys many believed she would finally win the coveted Album Of The Year award for her collection of dance spells titled Renaissance. Of course, Harry Styles got it. Now, I haven’t heard his album Harry’s House, but I doubt it’s Renaissance, and many people are shaking tables and sliding down walls in the aftermath of her loss. You can add Jay-Z to that list, who made a statement prior to her loss that hasn’t aged well. But I’m sure if you asked him now he would simply reply with “Fuck The Grammys!” like the rest of the Beyhive.

According to People, Jay-Z probably wishes he peered into a crystal ball before making his prediction for Beyoncé taking home the AOTY trophy, because she’s been nominated for the award four times. And each time the Grammys dangle it in front of her face, they quickly snatch it away and say, “You gotta be quicker than that!” Previously Queen Bey was nominated for I Am…Sasha Fierce, Beyoncé, Lemonade and now Renaissance, but has never taken home the gold in the AOTY category. Jay really believed they would finally get it right and give Beyoncé her just due by gracing her with the award she’s been chasing for years. But he must not know about the Grammys, because they once again denied her efforts.

“The truth is, we grew up wanting to be on the Grammys, and it was our goal. We just want them to get it right. That’s what we want,” JAY-Z told Elliott Wilson, responding to a question about his own previous losses at the Grammys. “Even with Bey, I felt like they missed the moment. Not just Lemonade; [also] when Beck won over her [for album of the year at the 2015 show]. I was like, ‘Oh, y’all missed it.'”

Elsewhere in the interview, the “99 Problems” rapper explained why he felt Renaissance deserved to win album of the year. “Look what it’s done to the culture. Look how the energy of the world moved,” said JAY-Z. “They play her whole album in the club. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that. The whole entire joint — like, everything?!”

“Every remix is amazing. Everyone’s inspired. It has inspired the world,” continued JAY-Z. “When it just inspires creativity, that’s an album. That has to be album of the year.”

Well, it still wasn’t enough to get her that very much elusive AOTY Grammy, and at this point, maybe she should stop expecting it because, in the words of En Vogue, she ain’t never gonna get it. I’m just glad Solange wasn’t there when this glitch in the system occurred because all I can see is her running toward the stage and drop-kicking Harry during his acceptance speech. We already know Solange don’t play about her big sister.
