Harry Styles Won Album Of The Year At The 2023 Grammys And Some People Are Shocked

If you woke up this morning and logged onto social media, you may have noticed that one Harry Styles is now Public Enemy #1 of the BeyHive after last night’s 65th annual Grammy Awards. Beyoncé picked up wins last night bu was snubbed for the coveted Album of the Year award, as Harry’s House somehow beat out Renaissance and the Hive is in a frenzy. But honestly, so should anyone with ears.

Harry’s House was nominated for AOTY and was up against Brandi Carlile’s In These Silent Days, Music of the Spheres by Coldplay, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers by Kendrick Lamar, Lizzo’s album Special, Good Morning Gorgeous by Queen of calf-length boots, Mary J. Blige, Voyage by ABBA, 30 by Adele, Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti, and of course the Queen Bey’s Renaissance. Harry won that and also Best Pop Vocal Album (which is a whole other discussion) but was also nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Music Video for his single, As It Was.

During his acceptance speech, Harry says: “This doesn’t happen to people like me very often.” And I was confused by that statement a little bit. He got famous as a youth in a boy band, went on to immediately become a heartthrob, and has been queer-baiting to immense financial success while he himself is a cisgender white male. So… what part of that doesn’t usually get accolades?

Here he is accepting his award from his “biggest fan”–a grandma who is honestly living her best life and seems as shocked by his win as the rest of us:

Not everyone is a hater like me, though, and even I will admit that it’s sweet to see fans and musicians have a great time together:

Many people are haters though:

Personally, I was more confused about how Harry beat both Adele and Lizzo for Best Pop Vocal Album, but that’s because it has the word “vocal” in it, so I guess I was expecting something else. Best album in general; that’s always up for debate.  But his vocals–including his vocals during his Grammys performance? I’ll let you be the judge:

Harry should be careful because the Venn diagram of BeyHive members and gay people is close to a circle. He can’t queer bait for money and steal wins from dance-club ballroom albums–it’s not sustainable!

And here’s Harry on the red carpet, serving bootleg Pippin:
