Ben Platt Thinks That The “Dear Evan Hansen” Movie Would’ve Never Been Made Without Him

August 9, 2021 / Posted by:

Ben Platt has been with Dear Evan Hansen since the beginning from workshops in 2014 to starring in it on Broadway in 2016, which got him the Tony for Best Leading Actor in a Musical at the tender age of 23. As we know, acclaimed things that aren’t movies will eventually be made into a movie. 27-year-old Ben reprised his role as 17-year-old Evan Hansen in the movie version that comes out on September 24. While us “randos being jerks” may have been rolling on our floors laughing at this Inception-level stretch of our imaginations that this obvious man was a teenager, Ben has come out to say that he basically had to be the one to play this role (in the movie which is being produced by his father). Because if he didn’t, Dear Evan Hansen would never have been made! …And what would have been the problem with that?

Ben Platt Suggests That “Randos Being Jerks” About Him Playing A Teen Should Watch “Grease”

May 20, 2021 / Posted by:

I just got called a “rando” by Ben Platt. That’s a cap in my feather I didn’t know I needed but I’ll take it! When the trailer for Dear Evan Hansen came out earlier this week, chuckleheads like myself poked fun at 27-year-old Ben trying to pass for a 17-year-old high school student. And also his Curly Sue locks. Well, Ben didn’t appreciate that. According to Variety, Ben tweeted then deleted a message thanking fans for their support but added “PS to the randos being jerks about age, read this great article and/or watch grease.” The article in question is from a Vanity Fair interview in which he explains what it took for him to pull on Evan’s signature polo shirt and arm cast again. And  apparently, Ben grew that hair himself and I called it a wig. Oops, my bad!

Here’s The Trailer For The Movie Version Of “Dear Evan Hansen” Where 27-Year-Old Ben Platt Plays A High School Student

May 18, 2021 / Posted by:

In the new trailer for the movie version of the 2016 hit Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen, 27-year-old Ben Platt reprises his titular title role as a high school student, following the tradition of adults playing totally unbelievable kids in movies and TV. Ben even went and stole Stockard Channing’s Rizzo wig from Grease to get the look just right. Ben won a Tony for the role but judging by his aged appearance in the trailer, he’s more likely to win a lifetime achievement award than an acting trophy for the 2021 Oscars race.

The Live Stream Of Stephen Sondheim’s 90th Birthday Celebration Concert Was Extra Dramatic Due To Technical Difficulties

April 27, 2020 / Posted by:

Last night’s live stream broadcast of Broadway.com’s Take Me to the World: A Sondheim 90th Birthday Celebration gave all the Anne Hathaway types their lives, but it also shaved precious minutes off said lives due to a harrowing period of technical difficulties which can be summed up by the face host Raúl Esparza is making above. If the show hadn’t ultimately given us the cultural high watermark of Christine Baranski, Meryl Streep, and Audra McDonald in their bathrobes getting litty 2 titty while singing The Ladies Who Zoom, I mean Lunch, it might have been a complete disaster.

The First Trailer For “The Politician” Is Here

August 19, 2019 / Posted by:

Last year, Ryan Murphy signed a $300 million deal with Netflix to make TV shows, and anyone who knows Ryan Murphy probably predicted that at least one of those shows would combine elements of drama, high school, murder, bitchery, an evil demon, Jessica Lange, intense Darren Criss energy, and wigs. By the looks of the first trailer for The Politician, Ryan has reserved the evil demon theme for his Ratched show, but everything else got thrown into Ryan’s Instant Success Pot.

Barbra Streisand Is In Talks To Star In A Ryan Murphy Show

February 5, 2018 / Posted by:

Streifans (or do they call themselves Barbrarians?) everywhere got verklempt in the loins today after Deadline reported that their god is possibly going to grace a Ryan Murphy show with her talent. Does that mean that Barbra Streisand is going to play herself in American Horror Story: Barbra Streisand’s Basement Mall? Or does it mean she’s going to play Jennifer Aniston in American Crime Story: The Time Harper’s Bazaar Put Jennifer Aniston In Streisand Drag. The answer is: neither. Barbra is “in talks” to do a brand new Ryan Murphy show for Netflix. Gwyneth Paltrow is also in talks to co-star. And now I’m picturing Barbra say, “Like buttah,” when Goopy asks her how her vagina feels after they get side-by-side coochie steaming during a break from filming.
