Tyra Banks Has Finally Explained What “Modelland” Is All About
Finally, on a recent appearances on both The View and The Talk, Tyra Banks has fleshed out the details of her forthcoming “attraction” called Modelland (via Jezebel). Forget what you’ve previously pictured. Modelland is not a theme park, it’s more like a carnival of nightmares, but make it fashion. From Tyra’s description, Modelland sounds like the physical manifestation of her psyche that is the result of her working through some things that you or I might discus with our therapist instead of creating “a first-of-its-kind story driven attraction, combining the universes of beauty, fashion, shopping, and theatre.” We can’t all be visionaries.
On The Talk, Tyra said that Modelland is “Harry Potter meets the modeling industry” with a little Wakanda thrown in there and is based on her self-published YA novel (576 pages!) of the same name. Modelland is set in an “alternate universe” and visitors are encouraged to join the #TheUpRiXing led by “Tookie De La Crème, and her squad of atypical beauty rebels.” At Modelland, one can rail against rigid beauty standards while taking selfies and enjoying some Smize Cream. Tyra Banks Thinks She And Rihanna Are Practically Twins
Yesterday Kristian likened Tyra Banks to Rihanna due to her business acumen and dedication to staying On Brand with every move she makes. And Tyra makes a lot of moves (or, as is also the case, “micro-movements” which is a modeling technique Tyra taught me on ANTM that I use to this day). And the comparisons don’t end there. Tyra (or BanX as she’s rechristened herself. I’ll get into that later, one Big Idea at a time) and Rihanna also both seem to possess and an uncanny ability to stay three stomps ahead of competition when it comes to The Next Big Thing. In Rihanna’s case, she’s got the cosmetics and fashion industries watching her for clues about what the latest trends will be. And Tyra, well she’s got Big Ice Cream positively shook! Tyra would add one more similarity to that list. She thinks she and Rihanna look like they were separated at birth!
