A Very Calm, Comfortable, And Relaxed Jason Sudeikis Became A Moment From Last Night’s Golden Globes

March 1, 2021 / Posted by:

The Golden Globe Awards are usually ripe with messiness, mostly due to the fact that a good number of nominees, presenters, and winners are drunk off their asses by Hour 2. But last night’s ceremony was a bit different, with most attendees attending from home, in an attempt to maintain proper COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Still, some famous people dressed up and others, like Jason Sudeikis, really leaned into the whole “Mandatory remote work event” angle of the evening and didn’t sweat the small stuff. The only sweating happening might have been on the inside of the sweatshirt he decided to wear when accepting his first Golden Globe last night. Because generally, Jason Sudeikis’ entire mood was pretty chill and some thought he was high.

Jane Fonda Called On Hollywood To Be More Inclusive In Her Golden Globes Acceptance Speech

March 1, 2021 / Posted by:

Last night’s Golden Globes were filled with more glitches and technical fuck-ups than a FaceTime call with my mom (and yes, every other question from her is, “Can you see me?!“), but the real technical glitch happened when all of the lights burst (yes, that happened, don’t fact check me on that) after lighting rod of glamour, Jane Fonda, strutted her 83-year-old ass out onto the stage. Jane was done up like the hot Mother of the Bride who makes the bride seethe with rage by looking better than her on her big day. But Jane was at the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills to accept the Cecil B. DeMille Award and during her speech, she called out Hollywood and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s problems with diversity and gave love to I May Destroy You, a show that makes HFPA members say, “I don’t know her,” because they snubbed the hell out of it.

Chadwick Boseman’s Wife Accepted His Posthumous Golden Globe Win

March 1, 2021 / Posted by:

During last night’s Golden Globe Awards, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association proved that only some of their decisions are questionable brain-scratchers, not all. Because we saw Chadwick Boseman win the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture Drama, for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. It was his first Golden Globe nomination ever, and his first win. It also made him the fourth Black actor in the show’s 78-year history to win the award (Andra Day, who took home the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Drama last night, happens to be only the second Black woman to do so). But as we all know, Chadwick Boseman passed away last August at the way too young age of 43 from colon cancer, before he got the chance to rightfully claim his award and thank everyone he wanted to thank. Instead, his wife Taylor Simone Ledward ensured there wasn’t a dry eye in existence, by accepting on his behalf and saying all the things he likely would have said in his acceptance speech.

At Last Night’s Golden Globes, Amy Poehler And Tina Fey Managed To Roast The HFPA Together From Separate Coasts

March 1, 2021 / Posted by:

Long-time besties, comedic duo Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, hosted the 2021 Golden Globes last night and it was a different show than usual in the sense that they were hosting separately from different locations and their audience was filled with first responders instead of the Hollywood glitterati. But some things remained from your usual non-coronavirus awards show. Like roasting the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and the nominees who may or may not have bought off their votes with fancy trips to Paris.

Open Post: Hosted By The Wax Figure Seat Fillers At Peter Luger Steak House

February 28, 2021 / Posted by:

As restaurants in New York are gradually permitted to open up reduced-capacity indoor dining while still respecting COVID-19 social-distancing protocols, creative solutions are bubbling up in order to make the dining rooms feel more inviting for the customers desperate to escape their 340th straight night of microwave burritos and leftover Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. During the past few months, we’ve learned that restaurants have used stuffed pandas, mannequins, and blow-up dolls to fill seats for the benefit of passersby and diners who longed for a sense of a vibrant social scene once again.

Some seat fillers are especially lifelike (yesterday’s carpool dummy) and some are beloved but not quite as realistic as our passenger-seat friend. Peter Luger Steak House in Brooklyn, NY, rose to the occasion of 35%-capacity indoor dining by teaming up with Madame Tussauds to temporarily fill the open tables with glamorous Hollywood wax figures.

“Emily In Paris” Gave Golden Globe Voters A Luxurious Trip To France…. And Then The Show Got Two Nominations

February 23, 2021 / Posted by:

When the 2021 Golden Globe nominations were announced people were confused by a lot of the things going on. Sure there were some notable snubs like Michaela Cole’s I May Destroy You. But the real fuckery was things like The Prom getting a nomination and Emily In Paris getting two. Well turns out,  the Emily In Paris peopled treated Golden Globe voters to a fancy Parisian vacation a while ago, and I’m sure that has NOTHING to do with Emily In Paris‘ head-scratching nominations. Le not at all!
