Save The Carpenters’ Home!

/ February 17, 2008

Karen and Richard Carpenters’ former home in Downey, CA is in danger of getting the chop. The home is where the two wrote a lot of their songs and it was the cover of their album “Now & Then.” It was also where Karen collapsed in 1983 before passing away.

The home’s current owners, Manuel and Blanca Melendez Parra, want to bulldoze the house down and build a new one, because they are sick of being bothered by Carpenters’ fans. The Parra family said that when they first bought the house they allowed the fans in, but it became too much. “In the beginning, we let everybody in. But honestly, it became horrible, not only for us but for the neighborhood. People peek in windows and take pictures. They leave flowers on the front porch.” Free flowers? Where’s the problem?

Carpenters’ fans are protesting the demolition and have asked the city of Downey to make the home a historical landmark. One fan said, “This house is our version of Graceland. When they photographed the ‘Now & Then’ cover here in 1973, the house was instantly immortalized.”

We’ve only just begun, Blanca! All these fans needs to do is ask Blanca to give them the house and they can move it somewhere else and turn it into a museum or something. This sounds like a job for Ty Pennington and Extreme Home Makeover.

A Lighter Aretha

/ February 7, 2008

Aretha Franklin gave an interview to the Associated Press where she talked about how she’s feeling much lighter these days thanks to a trainer. Aretha will perform at the Grammys this Sunday with Mary J. Blige. She’s also getting ready to release a new album on her label, Aretha’s Records. What a creative name. She should have called it Two Squirrels Fighting Under A Blanket Records instead.

She said, “I’ve got a new trainer, and she’s giving me a lot of good things, really educating me about nutrition and weight loss and how to do it, and cooking stuff for you. I’m not on a diet. It’s a lifestyle change. I’m going to be doing it for the long run. And eventually I’ll reach my goal.”

I’m guessing her goal is when she can finally see her toes. Aretha went on,” I feel lighter. I’m not as heavy, what you get with the red meat. You dragging yourself along when you have all that red meat. Much lighter. I feel a lot lighter, and a lot better.”

I love Aretha no matter what. I just pray that those enormous breastes go nowhere. I also pray that she wears a low-cut dress at the Grammys on Sunday. That would make my February. Screw the dress! I hope she comes in pasties.

Punxsutawney Phil Is A Hateful Groundhog!

/ February 2, 2008

Punxsutawney Phil saw his own shadow in Pennsylvania this morning which means there’s 6 more extra weeks of Winter. Each February 2nd thousands of people travel to Punxsutawney, PA to watch that dumb bitch Phil come out of his hole. Bitch was probably drunk! He doesn’t know what he saw. The tradition is if Phil sees his shadow, there’s 6 weeks more of Winter and if he doesn’t, Spring comes early.

However, Phil’s arch rival, Gen. Beauregard Lee in Georgia, did not see his shadow this morning. I’m going with Beauregard Lee. He has the dumbest name, but he’s probably the smarter groundhog.

Screw that Phil! He’s a wife beater and a drunk. I can tell. Look at him. He can barely keep his eyes open. He didn’t see shit!

Happy Groundhog day!
