Duchess Meghan Met Beyoncé At The London Premiere Of “The Lion King”

How nice it must have been for her to be in the presence of royalty. After all, it’s not every day that one meets the indisputable Queen of Music, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. I’m of course kidding, because I’m sure Beyoncé – a noted Duchess of Sussex fan – was also very thrilled to be meeting a royal like Duchess Meghan.

The London premiere of Disney’s live-action The Lion King (aka The Hills Have Dead CG-Eyes) happened yesterday, and Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan were there. The Daily Mail says that Meghan walked the yellow carpet in a $4,323 Jason Wu dress and a $2,100 Gucci clutch. “Oh, so she does have event-appropriate clothes after all” thought all the Wimbledon snobs who are still pissed Meghan showed up in jeans.

A dress that costs about the same as a 2006 Toyota Camry might seem like a lot to some people, but Meghan had to turn it out. After all, she was meeting Beyoncé that night! And Beyoncé was literally dressed in gold.

Meghan and Harry didn’t just meet Beyoncé and Jay-Z, they also got hugs too. If Harry and Meghan need a couple extra bucks for Frogmore Cottage renos, they should consider selling their clothes. There’s got to be at least a couple of Beyoncé’s skin cells or an eyelash, and I’m sure the Beyhive would pay top dollar for such a thing.

This evening, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended #TheLionKing European premiere in London at the Odeon Theatre. In celebration of the film’s release, The Walt Disney Company announced #ProtectThePride, a global conservation campaign to support efforts protecting the rapidly diminishing lion population across Africa. As a part of their commitment to this cause, Disney also made a donation to The Duke of Sussex’s upcoming environment & community initiative which will be formally announced this autumn. The Duke and Duchess are committed to advancing conservation efforts across Africa and around the world, and working with communities to ensure a sustainable future for the planet. This evening Their Royal Highnesses had the pleasure of meeting the cast and creative team behind the film, as well as supporters of @africanparksnetwork, of which The Duke is President. But what did Meghan and Beyoncé talk about? Meghan’s crappy family? The kind-of crappy reviews for the movie? The Daily Mail says Beyoncé gave Meghan parenting advice, allegedly saying, “Always find time for yourself.” I like to think this conversation happened as well.

Meghan: Beyoncé, your three children are so well-adjusted. I’m trying to raise Archie down-to-earth too. Do you have any tips for keeping your kids normal and grounded?

Beyoncé: Oh honey, we are very rich. Blue Ivy arrives on her yacht by a smaller yacht. The twins drink out of Baccarat crystal sippy cups. You’re talking to the wrong person.

Here’s more of Harry and Meghan from the London premiere of The Lion King yesterday, as well as some shots from the yellow (ew) carpet.
